Loved The Skids .... one of the best bands to emerge from punk IMHO ... still got the vinyl of Into The Valley, Masquerade and Circus Games in the loft ... had a special edition of Masquerade with a 'dubh'version .... cracking stuff <cheers>

It's the reason I mentioned it, I saw Comm comment and he probably ain't got a clue about Big Country, hence why I used the Skids remark, he's bound to know who they were...

I was amused when Blur released Beetlebum just to prove they could be a better Beatles tribute band than Oasis.....if they wanted to.

Blur have some great tunes I've generally preferred them more.

Oasis though I think are probably the better band.

Certainly made best album of the two.

I also thought James were brilliant .... their hits catalogue is full of very memorable tunes ... there is a 13 year age gap between my youngest and eldest girls but all my daughter's will happily sing along to Sit Down, She's A Star and Getting Away With It ... (first saw the last one performed live in the Jools Holland show - loved it from first hearing) ... Sit Down has become popular on Karaoke but so what? ... still far more vocally challenging and easier on the ear than that standard go to for any out of tune, nasally, whiney, pissed up twat; Wonderwail!!!! <laugh>

  10. I thought their best song by a country mile was Hymn from a Village personally

Come Home was always better than Sit Down, just like everything Elbow have ever done is better than One Day Like This for instance.

Radio stations just love anthems, they tend to not be the best songs a band puts out.

Gold Mother was a great album, as was Strip, Mine.

Nope ... don't rate either of them particularly .. never bought anything by them whereas I have just about everything by the Manics .. I accept it's all about opinions ...

As for Liam, he was featured in the BBC's Story of Glastonbury 2019 soundbite .... his contribution .... same anorak as always ... was some platitude ending with "man" .... he's nearly 50 <doh>

    Beatles tribute act <cheers>

  17. They're on their fortieth anniversary tour so I'd say that has an element of relevance. Not that it matters at Glastonbury where it's about getting big headliners in rather than what you may or may not think is relevant - and say what you like about them headliners don't come much bigger, or better, than these boys. That set last night was excellent.

My eldest said, 'time to go to bed, that bloke is too scary & he's also got too much hair for a man of his age'.

    Both perfectly valid points.

Was a bit of a **** Glastonbury looking back. Nothing to write home about.

Is it ok to describe Miley Cyrus as a wid now by the way? Surely she's old enough.
