£14/£17m seems high, but he is a 24 year old English player with probably over 50 PL games to his name, in this era of mental prices I doubt you would be able to find someone who fits that criteria for any less (and probably more)

I’ve been pretty vocal about my thoughts on Targett so I won’t go through them again, wish him luck and hope he is a success at Villa

He said we're selling the wrong left back as Bertrand could fetch a decent price. I regard £17mill as "decent".

Nothing wrong with thinking that. Bertrand will be worth **** all in a year or 2; Targett will still probably be worth a similar amount.

I actually disagree with him but hardly makes him a dick

 

I would have sold whoever we got the Better deal for out of Betrand and Targett. I don't see us getting a more lucrative deal out of Betrand so I'm happy with this. I was worried we would end up taking a **** offer for one of them just to get rid.

 

Good move for young Targett that move will make or break him......I personally think he will lap it up......

 

Sometimes selling a player just makes sense for all parties, us, Villa and Matty will all benefit I believe.

 

I guess it’s a good move for Matty, he won’t automatically be first choice at Villa so will have to fight for his place. Great business for us though!

 

£17m is a lot of money for a back up LB even for Villa though, Chilc. Great business all around I reckon as I think Matty will thrive there.

 

Matty is a great guy btw shame he has to move on but Vokins is a talent so can see why.

Yeah I can see Targett actually doing really well at Villa. In the right set up, he’ll be a real asset with his crossing like Butterfield was for us and Rickie.
