Yep, I heard that one and thought ol' Rofe was very good indeed. But I missed the occasional loud whisper. ;)

What an insulting thing to say about another human being. Can you please enlighten us all as to how you came to this opinion?

Did he fail his exams at school?
Has he got a low IQ?
Does he find it difficult to hold down a job?
Does he write stupid things on the internet without thinking about what he is saying?

Did you know he once worked as a probation officer?

Please tell us all how your achievements stand up against his or is it you who is really the simpleton?

You know when someone has reached a sophisticated level of maturity for it is when they have learned not to write or say something about someone unless they are prepared to say it to their face.

I have to contradict you again Dyslexic for all my Geordie friends are articulate and well educated and have very demanding and complex jobs.

Godders you serial posting on the Pompey board discredits all you have posted in response. You were an absolute embarressment. I guess you would have said all that to their faces... Rodders.

Dont know if you ever saw Dave play but if you didnt trust me he was a hard as nails defender so dont be fooled by the whispering. Also he was pretty sargeant major when in charge of the youngsters at the dell and not to be messed with. Personally i love his opinion and input and though he like anyone is not always right he draws on a wealth of experience

Yep, I'm old enough to have seen him play against Saints for Burnley. My recollection is that he was a defending midfielder type, but I'm totally prepared to be corrected on that. He was a well respected player, in his time, but had a shortish career limited by injury, as so many players were back then. Burnley were a very good, top division side during his time, and he was team captain, for a while, too. Ol' WDM knows his way around a football field.

I worked in Portsmouth for several years and have exchanged some very choice words with one or two of the blue few.

Please give me an example of how I have embarassed you through my posting on on another board.

No gentlemen please don't.........Agree to disagree and leave it at that. Otherwise I can see this dissolving into a bun fight that you may want but our other fans don't want. Which only means we the mods are brought into the argument. We have no desire to do so, but if forced, we will act.........

I performed in our school play as a young lad.

I also took part in amateur dramatics as a young man it was interesting but acting was not the career for me although I suppose we are all acting on here.

I wonder how many people are really like their internet personna in real life?

I too acted in school plays and then later in amateur productions. In all that time I tried to get them to let me be the bad guy......They would not let me do it. They said I was too nice to be one.......so I guess that shows my personality in real life........

Back to Merrington. I felt sorry for him when he was ditched as first team coach ... he probably wasn't right for that, but it ended a long, long employment with Saints and I don't like that when that happens.

As for his commentary, I have rarely listend as I am either at the game, or I live out of the area so don't get Solent. BUT, my Dad did listen before we got Season tickets..... and if Dad's chinese whispered version nof Merrrington's commentary are a representation of what he has said, then he must be poor!! ;)

I have been to games, while my Dad listened on the radio; I'd then phone him after to be "told" how Saints had played based on his listening to Radio Solent .... quite often I think I must have turned up at the wrong ground!

    yeah it would be easy:

" This Saints side are brilliant; total ffotball. Watch out Barca this lot are coming.... Hammond wins the tackle and knocks it 3 yards sideways to Cork, who sides steps some midfield oaf from the oppo and slides it to Schneiderlin who pings a beautiful 40 yeard cross field ball to Adam Lallanna; Lallana runs at the donkey playing at full back, does a step over, a drag back, 124 keepy uppies, drops his shoulder, sticks the full back on his arse and dinks a cross to the far post where Rickie Lambert dives full length to head the ball against the underside of the bar.... it bounces out and just as the CB is going to clear it, in sneaks Connolloy to toe poke it over the line .........GOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAALLLLLLL..... SAINTS ARE GOING UP AS THEY SURELY CAN'T LOSE THIS 8 NIL LEAD NOW. Wow the first team to be promoted in February...ever.... .... Mark Chamberlain, Steve Claridge, Alan Knight, Admiral Nelson, Harry the Twitch Redknapp, Milan Mandaric, the mayor of skatesville, you can stick your spinnaker tower where the sun don;t shine...your boys have taken one hell of a beating..."

    See, it's easy!

That is quality, but surely there is still room for a "what Saints don't want to do now, Adam, is let in 9 or 10 goals..."

Ahh SaintDon, all good commentators make a purposeful error ... it will allow me to release my Coleman balls style book in a few years ... it'll be called "For Fatletiss Sake" <whistle>

Quite understandable, if your father has been listening to WDM, partnered with Tony Husband.

They insisted I should play the part of Pontius Pilate in the school play when I was 15 so what does that say about my personality?
