First of all I don't miss Torres, and I wouldn't have him back; but a lot of the yak about him is oh he's struggling to score goals since he left Liverpool for Chelsea for £50 million. The fact that our team is mentioned means our fans have an opinion. So he left Liverpool for Chelsea because he wanted to 'win trophies' (now I suppose he'll say that was mis-translated also!) He didn't win a raffle last season, but this season he's still not scoring. Now Chelsea have brought in Mata who is I understand not bad. Last night apparently Torres tried to score but still couldn't. What I want to know is what if he still can't score, and gets benched more often, but Chelsea win a trophy of some description. Will he settle for bench-warming if it means he's got his medal, or will he get hacked off and go back to Spain in the summer? The other thing I'm wondering is about the alleged comments he made about some of the other Chelsea players being too slow which prevents him from scoring. Possibly there was some mistranslation there to sensationalise the story, but going back to when he was a Liverpool player, strong rumours abound that Gerrard and Carra weren't happy with his attitude and lack of goals. There was a reason why he left us, and I don't believe it was because of lack of trophies and he couldn't envisage us winning anything. Hodgson had been booted and Kenny had been brought back - does he know nothing about the game if he's never heard of KENNY DALGLISH! So was he driven out by so-called 'bullying', or what he interpeted as bullying? The reason we thought he wasn't scoring was because he wasn't getting the service from the other players, which was true. All that happened at Liverpool is past, I don't really know why he actually left, but I think there's trouble at mill at Chelsea, for all Villas-Boas' claims. I don't think Torres is entirely happy there. He's stood still. And it serves the little scrot right!
Wishi. I think we all need to forget about Torres. He's made his bed and needs to lie in it. At lest the little lamb got an assist or two last night. Well worth the 50 mill
i would actually presume ambramovich will toss him rather than him engineering a move. I also rather think there's a lot of excuses and not really the end product since his first year at liverpool, one would wonder if in actual fact his international medals have taken the hunger off and he's just looking for the big score (the champions league) to complete the set... .and wants it easy.
Dirk Kuyt was quoted recently as saying "I am the champion of winning nothing when it comes to trophies", but you don't see him sulking around & ****ting on his team mates. Torres may end up with the full set of medals, but he'll be walking alone unlike Dirk.
Good example Kuyt will go down as a Liverpool great, Torres will be forgotten. I know which I would rather be.
I understand why Torres left - he's a ruthless and ambitious person which I respect. There's nothing wrong in wanting to leave especially after Hodgson made things worse with the poor results and even poorer style of play which did not suit Torres at all. Even when Torres wasn't on top form under Rafa, he was still scoring goals and maintained a healthy goals per game average - simply because the style suited him. It's no coincidence that when Kenny took over and Torres started to score again. What I didn't respect was the manner in which he left. Completely disrespected the club with his comments and it's unforgivable. Whilst he provided fantastic value for money with his pace, acceleration, clinical finishing, I can't help but feel 'good riddance' and I hope he doesn't come back.
What pointless person you are. Were you actually born or did you drop from a spaceship with REJECT tattooed on yer arse?
wishi - interesting point about the vintage players of both teams lacking patience with Torres - not sure that could be influencing his performance on the pitch though. I just read the BBC report from last night's game 'Torres nearly scored a hatrick...' - what's this I thought - looked at who did score and a distinct lack of the word 'Torres' on score sheet - nearly scored a hatrick ..oh dear. He did actually get the ball into the net - but disallowed - Meireles offside - so that's why we sent him there
He started scoring again because he was auditioning for Chelsea. I thought the manner in which he left was appalling. He let down a lot of fans who were led to believe he was going to stay. He's a leech.
True; but on many occasions Torres displays performances like this, flashes of brilliance followed by matches of disinterest or inability to do anything much. Ten to one in his next match he'll slip back again. He probably tried hard last night to dispell the rumours, but if you have to keep trying...
It'd be rude to miss an opportunity like that! By the way, I can't find the 'yikes' emoticon. Where is it?
