There was a time when my team used to challenge and it felt like a big deal and granted some fun European nights but ultimately we have nothing to show for it - it's a money grab from the powers that be. There's no harm in it though and I reckon Liverpool and Tottenham are the other certainties for top 4. Man Utd, Chelsea, Arsenal too hard to call.
What are your expectations for Arsenal for the coming season now Emery has had a full season? @PISKIE @gooner4ever
Unless something dramatic happens City and Pool will be there. The rest will probably depend on how the summer pans out.
If we nail it this summer with the right signings then I think we'll join City and Pool in the top four. The last spot is then very tough to call. For now I'll say: City, Pool, Spurs and Utd. In that order. But may edit this by the end of the window. As for relegation, I think Villa, Newcastle (now that Rafa's off) and Brighton will go down.
Top 4 is the expectation from Emery now. We should have got it last season to be honest at the expense of Spurs, but we threw away our chances, and we had a few of them too. Nobody would have really batted an eyelid if Emery had finshed 6th-8th last season because it was his first in the PL, and we've got a completely new coaching and back room set up. But now he's come within a whisker of it, the expectation is there. Whether we'll get it is dependent on who we sign this summer and how other clubs strengthen. We've only got a reported £40m to spend this summer, so to be honest it will be a massive achievement if emery can get this squad into the top 4 next season. Also Emery is only on a 2 year contract so the club have the option to rethink things at the end of this season if it's not working, and with Allegri looking for a club, our board could have a big decision to make.
You can’t make these predictions now, as you’re basically just making a call on last seasons finish, and not how the sides will line up come August.
Scousers will be down 10 goals at least now that VAR is in so strike of 12 pts from last season for a start, after City and Scousers the next 4 could barely win a game between them for over a month so top 4 isn't that hard to call, IMHO.
