So you're one of those that believe this nonsense are you? That article seems to have been written in 2008 and quotes a Bishop bemoaning the fact that Christianity is losing its influence. Inter-religious scaremongering.
What are your grounds for saying it's nonsense? The Independent newspaper, which is simply not independent or objective and has a left wing agenda? I've certainly read that there are parts of cities in the north, where police have to ask Muslim leaders permission before they can patrol. I'd be interested to know why you are so sure it isn't the case.
To be fair, I knew of 2 estates, about 15 miles from me that were no go areas for the police. Think they go on to them now but not a few years ago!
It's been an issue in certain Northern cities, Bob, which is why I'm amazed that Strolls believes it isn't so
Blackburn, Darwen, Burnley, Rotherham, Bradford - just to name a few. I've worked all over the North of the country, these definately stand out as having heavily populated ethnic areas and you do feel a little bit conspicuous when there. As to no-go zones for the police - couldn't say, but I've never felt that intimidated (I've worked in some schemes in Glasgow - now that's scary.....)
It comes down to meeting certain convergence criteria, and to date, the EU has not chosen to enforce obligations. But it's clear that this is where the EU is going. More and more countries will join the Euro. It will be a club within a club, and if it feels it is being marginalized, Denmark may eventually have to decide whether to join the Euro or find another relationship with the EU imo
One of the estates I know that was a no go area for the police a few years ago was predominantly a white area.
Home turf for me nowadays though! Have been threatened a few times, but normally able to de-escalate it quite quickly... otherwise it's a quick lock up, jump in the car and get ta ****!!
I just don't believe that there are any areas in the UK where non-Muslims can't enter - i.e they are prevented from entering. There may well be areas, highly populated by Muslims, where they choose not to enter because they feel uncomfortable, but that's not the same thing at all. Proving the non-existence of something is tricky though, perhaps you can prove the opposite? Oh, and there are no Sharia courts in the UK. There are Sharia councils but they have to operate under UK law.
There's evidence in the form of police quoting to journalists the difficulties in entering some solely Muslim areas. It does seem to be a problem, but there are white estates that are also problematic Courts, tribunals, councils - it's all semanics. They can meter out Sharia Law in certain circumstances so long as it doesn't conflict with English law (there's no such thing as UK law)
So there aren't any areas where non-Muslims can't go then, and there aren't any Sharia courts, councils or tribunals acting outside of English law. QED.
No, there are quasi judicial bodies that do apply Sharia law in England. You implied there were not. There's evidence that there are areas where non-Muslims, particularly police, cannot go, at least not without Muslim leaders permission. So, on this occasion, your forehead slapping was ill-founded
Well, I would say that talk of 'Sharia Courts' implies that they are operating outside of English law, when they are not. Where's the evidence for the areas where non-Muslims can't go? This is an interesting debunking of the suggestion that there are such areas in London...... https://www.bellingcat.com/news/uk-...ng-maps-alleged-islamic-no-go-zones-london-2/
Your original post referred to parts of Britain operating under Sharia law. The can, and do. It just cannot conflict with English Law. These are quotes from a website UNN : A British police officer has had a go at the establishment opening up about no-go Zones in the UK, he has said: ‘There Are Areas We Have To Ask Muslim Leaders’ Permission To Patrol’ The Daily Mail reports that a Lancashire Police officer has admitted: “There are Muslim areas of Preston that, if we wish to patrol, we have to contact local Muslim community leaders to get their permission”. Another officer from Yorkshire in the North of England, wrote on an online Police web forum: “I’m not allowed to travel in half blues [uniform] to work anymore IN MY OWN CAR as we’re ‘All at risk of attack” – yet as soon as someone points out the obvious it’s ‘divisive. In this instance he [Trump] isn’t wrong. Our political leaders are best either ill-informed or simply being disingenuous.” please log in to view this image
