Eto'o was on the funny ***s with Paul Merson and Rio Ferdinand. He was also on the white powder with Merson, Jaap Stam and Mark Bosnich. He was on the piss with Norman Whiteside who once went on a 5 day bender with George Best.
So Harry maguire to city for 80m and 280k a week. Would say sounds like a load of bollocks but last 5 years have shown that average players can very well go for stupid money and wages so who knows.
Well Citeh did pay £100 million for Walker and Stones. It's more than 5 years that average players went for huge money. In 1981 Man United paid £1.75 million for a 3rd rate West Brom midfielder called Bryan Robson. There was no way Flasher Robson aka Captain Crutches was worth that amount.
Really can't see Man City buying him. Seems a perfect fit for Man Utd though, especially with those terms!
Yeah I'm with the matchdaythreadgenius, Maguire is a very limited player who would suit Utd at the moment. Don't see him fitting in at City
With respect to maguire... the greatest respect to the hard work and dedication tot turn himself for a young lad at championship clubs into an england player.... HEEEHAW!!! he's a big lad and a decent header of ball and can play either side as well but he's not a mobile player. Him and laporte at the back for city? better than partnering lindeloff i guess. For me if city are in thats where i'd go all day.
Maguire is an over priced Phil Jones. Yes he's big, but he's slow and clumsy. What price Joe Gomez who actually is quick?
Man City should be going for De Ligt imo. Would have to offer him some decent training sessions though...
TBH when you look at what they have got... mangala and otamendi and stones... its not great for lapotre to partner is it? you are probably right though... he's suit utd kick and rush (aka kick it to the fast las up fornt) game. I would see utd sit real deep with the likes of maguire for headers and lindeloff for what i don't really know playing behind mctomminay and matic. all they'd need then is to stop de gea throwing matches. As long as they can hoof it at a couple fast lads up front... sorted
Liverpool move to be completed on July 9 when young attacker reports to club Northern Irish teenager Conor Bradley will officially become a Liverpool player on July 9 - his 16th birthday - when he completes his switch from the Dungannon United Youth setup. Bradley will take on a two-year scholarship with the new European champions, who are also his boyhood club. Having been on LIverpool’s radar for a couple of years, Bradley will move to Merseyside having previously travelled back and forth from his home in Tyrone, Northern Ireland. The teenager - a quick, attacking player with an eye for goal - has previously played for Liverpool in youth tournaments, impressing coaches, teammates and scouts alike.

I don't think Maguire is at the standard Man City require. I think he'd improve the Man Utd defence but he isn't the standard they should be aiming for
Is there an element of needing more homegrown for either city or utd? I thought that was a big reason they bought Stones.
certainly there has to be a bit of that. If you look at the squad i did for city yesterday Gk Ederson, muric, bravo (only cos he's injured) Rb walker Danilo Lb zinchenko mendy Cbs otamendi, laporte, stones, mangala No 6: fernandinho, gundogan No 8s: de bruyne, Silva, b.silva, foden Lw: sane, mahrez Rw: sterling St: aguero, Jesus. walker, stones, sterling, foden (who doesn't really count as he is under age) you really need 8 HG and 4 clb trained before fa start changing rules that would say to me that they need or would want more warm bodies who are HG. A thrid GK for example who's english imo would be no harm for them. Utd..... well... tey have a bit more sorted there but its mixed as well. Jones, smalling, shaw, henderson, mctominay, lingard, rashford and some good youths all contribute to HG just off top of my head.
I'd have to agree. city can defend long ball. they can win the title with 75% possession in england... its the CL they want and teams will target maguire there cos while he's tall and good in air he is just not going to cut it on the ground and pass it about.
Bilic unveiled by West Brom Slaven Bilic has been unveiled by West Brom today. The ex-West Ham boss has taken charge at the Hawthorns and is tasked with leading a promotion push next term. “It feels great to be back in English football with West Bromwich Albion. I would like to thank the club for giving me this opportunity. It’s a privilege. “It means a lot to be here. This club is a massive club because of the history and the fans. It’s a traditional, family club and the fans are very loyal.”
Nice bit of research there. When there's an unlikely English player linked, I always think it's to satisfy the HG rules. Apart from anything else there aren't many good English/HG about for the likes of city to be interested in without it being for quota reasons. (Hands off TAA)
It's not like ours is hugely brilliant right now. Home-grown players: Jordan Henderson James Milner Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain Adam Lallana Nathaniel Clyne ( soon to go) Club-trained players: Trent Alexander-Arnold Joe Gomez Rhian Brewster (age mean won't be registered) Harry Wilson Camacho in theory. kelleher You can actually see the effort to bring more through and also to retain even though a player like lallana is a big resource sink.
