I play in a Funk/Jazz/Afrobeat band now. Although we've only gigged a few times the past couple of years due to babies, travel and work commitments. As a bass player, Funk and Jazz are really fun genres to play. We play some Highlife music too, which has some complicated time signatures and poly-rhythms. Keeps it all interesting and challenging as a musician.
You sound like a pretty talented bloke to me. We weren't that talented, but had some great times. Lasted a couple of years then had a row and split up on stage. Very rock and roll.
It's a challenge I'm probably the least musically talented one in the band. The others are 'proper' musicians, and have played in some bands of modest repute. Our Keyboard player was in a band called BOB in the 80's and 90's. They were a favourite of John Peel's. One of our Sax players is friends with one of Van Morrison's old drummers and has featured on some of his stuff with other bands. The other Sax player is sister in law to a chap called Stephen Large, who is the Keyboard player in the Squeeze and also the musical director for Duffy and has produced loads of stuff for TV shows etc. I've gigged with him a couple of times too. Our singer does loads of other stuff, she's in an Acapella group, does session work as a backing singer and is a vocal coach too. Maybe I should get HIAG's singer to get in touch with her
Well I'm not going to pretend to like middle of the road banal rock songs just to avoid offending him
Piskie you need to post your band up, either that or stfu moaning about HIAG I'm calling bullshit......
HIAG and PISKIE stylee.... It's so ****ing bad that as soon as my phone types HI it's dying to type PISKE, and vice versa. I basically can't say Hi to anyone anymore with deleting the word PISKIE
