So nowadays one of our biggest worries and concerns is changing our existing badge, possibly back to the old badge. WTF?! Who really cares?! Have we become fickle supporters all of a sudden? If it's just to eradicate the link to Flabio and Bernie then that's wrong. I disagree with the way they ran some aspects of the club, but they stopped us from going under and paved the way for the future. Tony Fernandes would be a million miles from us without the Formula 1 connection..... Chill out my fellow hoops and relax, they could stick a Blue Peter badge on the shirt and I will still support the hoops all the way, especially after last nights performance.
Wasn't that long ago they tried it......We could of been following 'Fulham Park Rangers'. Oh what fun the pitch invasion was
And while we are at it lets change the ground and our name as well and in a few years we won't recognise who we are? i don't like the new badge, in fact i think it is completly 'naff'. I also feel for the fans that got 'tats' with the old badge (i know its their choice). TBH i am all for change and new things but something like a Badge should be kept the same. It's a symbol of who we are. The new one just reminds me of FB and all the flash bulls##t that came with him. Bring back the old one but at a later date. The on field stuff is more important.
Clearly, with several celebs and friends in the directors' box sporting caps with the old badge on. Fernandes didn't do a deal with a trader in Shepherd's Bush Market. This is planned.
Yeah, I picked up on that. I really hope they do, one of the b)ards that dragged me into supporting QPR has the old badge on his shoulder!
In answer to your question, Newbury, fans do seem to care. It's not as important as having good owners, a decent ground, a good manager, talented players or winning games but it is important, particularly as the new badge stands for the goons in the eyes of many. Even the cat matters. I asked in a recent post whether the much hyped reintroduction of Jude before the Newcastle match on Sky was really that important - given that all the Goons did was take a similar cat suit and put stripes on it - I was told it did matter, and I understand the resentment fans have with the way the Goons interfered with QPR traditions in an arrogant and autocratic way. So, yes, it matters - not high up the list of priorities but on that list anyway
A lot of supporting any team is about tradition, & a club's badge is part of that tradition. I have no idea why the goons changed it, probably just because they could! But I understand why it upset some people, the end of an era so to speak. Personally, I don't have a problem with the current one, other than that bloody silly football under the crown that is!
i prefer the old badge and hate the sight on the current version, yes we should change it back but its not high on the list of priorities, when it happens great.
I was a steward at the time, I stood by the gate that led onto the pitch from the Loft in the corner by the Ellerslie road stand, my job was to stop a pitch invasion so I removed my bib and joined in, happy days
I think there were a few stewards who joined in that day mate. And the ones who didn't join in were still supportive and really didnt make any attempt to stop us. Great days, great support !!
Loved the old badge, it was the one i got to know in the 80's when i started supporting the R's. But i like the new one better now that it has grown on me, it reminds of the one from the 70's which was simple and great. Though it could do without Flavios hair around it and the daft football in the middle, we know we are a football club! But changing it back to the previous one has nothing to do with tradition as we have changed badges many times in the past, frankly i think the previous one is outdated.
