Like anyone's going to be daft enough to say Everton have never played in Europe. Same trophy under 2 different competition names, rules ......
Meaning it might be nice if you supported your fellow fans for a change ..... Got to try it once in a while.
I believe Fifa have made an adjustment to the rules for Keepers on penalties, which is where all the controversy is coming from rather than VAR which has just enabled officials to finally see it. As I understand it the keeper has to keep at least one foot on the line until the player has struck the ball. As well as coming forward, this also means that keepers aren't allowed to jump up and down on the line and other such like (someone also mentioned that they aren't allowed to touch the cross bar or posts in the build up, but that could have been something I misheard) In effect, unless the player hits a really **** shot or puts it wide, the keeper has almost no chance to save it.
They can touch the bar, just pen can’t be taken until it’s stopped moving etc. They’ve always had to be on the line I actually thought beforehand iltheybhad to have both feet on the line but it’s now changed to only 1 so in effect it’s better for keepers? They can still step out to narrow angle just have to time it right. What i I do hope though is that it stops the stutter pens. It’s hard enough for keepers staying on line but if forward is allowed to stutter then makes timing their dive impossible.
The CL is really the UEFA cup with the champions added . The UEFA cup in a lot of ways was the more difficult competition to win but as Saint said re the CL easier to qualify for .
Who would say something like that when there are far more hilarious comparisons, such as: Trent has played as many CL finals as CL games Everton have won
The second France one the girl had one heel on the line. On the retake she tried standing behind line to be able to dive and ref reprimanded her. On replay she was off line when ball was stuck and as it's a goal it wasn't retake. In short as a keeper you have to step to transfer weight to foot to dive off. You can't just flop over to one side. You've got to power off. Gluing a keeper to the line is nonsense
Wrong. Everton haven't played any CL games in order to win or lose them. Swap CL for European Cup games.
have read and its actually data shows they have never played in CL but have played 8 in EC. The section showing 10 games in EC/CL is actually incorrect as it includes the 2 ties against Villareal which was a qualifier and is not therefore counted as a CL match.
and ? oh and since you like Wiki https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/European_Cup_and_UEFA_Champions_League_records_and_statistics can you scour this entry as i seem to be missing the Everton entry. tia
"The first penalty shootout in the European Cup was between Everton and Borussia Mönchengladbach on 4 November 1970, after both games ended 1–1. Gladbach's Klaus-Dieter Sieloff was the first player to score on a penalty kick, while Everton's Joe Royle was the first to miss."
