My old man was in the crowd , can you see him with an Old Holborn role up, a group of mates clubbed together and brought a Bedford dormobile van and went to home and away games for the double season and the following 2 seasons, they only gave it up when it was stolen at an away game to Shef Wed ,lost 3-1 and had to hitch home .
I was at that match. Think Big Smithy scored a couple IIRC. Happy days! Double on the horizon, could hardly bear the tension!
I think the Burnley center half missed the ball and Smithy ran on to it and hammered it home, for number 1. No kissing, cuddling and sliding on the grass.
My step dad smoked Boars Head rollups. As one wore out,he was lighting another.Finished up in hospital for a year with spot on the lung.My sister (10 years old!) had to go to a girls hospital in Brentwood for fluid on the lungs. Second hand smoke! I was always out......
Smoking did for both mum and dad , my brother is undergoing smoking related treatment, Me I never smoked and would always open windows in the room that they smoked in and sat near it , no apparent problems but suffer from neck problems most likely from sitting in a draughty room
Apart from being our 2nd most successful manager also famous for the quote " there used to be a football club over there " after we became a PLC
Bizarre scenes in the WWC.... Cameroon elbowing, spitting and staging a sit in! England winning by 2, but who the feck knows what will happen 2nd half
Now another VAR disallows a goal for Cameroon! Neutrals booing England and they're making ridiculous errors..... See the tables being turned...
I really am trying to enjoy the womens wc, but despite the media frenzy around it telling us otherwise, the quality of the football remains patchy at best. Todays was quite entertaining but only because Cameroon were over physical and reacted appallingly to a couple of VAR decisions going against them (both correctly). The ref today made the worst premier league referee looking like Colina, she was hopelessly out of her depth. But generally the football lacks guile, the crowds lack passion and its all a bit of a damp squib.
As with the mens WC, a few good games with a lot of dirge. The bits I have seen, the USA are easily the most technically competent.
