Military power they will i mean would(incase Trebs thinks we think this is going to become another Hiroshima) throw a bit more than stones.
I've not said or thought anything of the sort. But there's no intention for war by either side here. There is for a military strike though, on the part of the U.S. instigated by their middle-east "allies", which is a different thing entirely.
Flaws ? Seems to me that you don’t really understand the geopolitical landscape. Anyway, don't just take my word for it: Iran, if under sufficient pressure, might also seek to spread the conflict more broadly, urging its proxies in Iraq, Syria or elsewhere to attack US targets. In extremis it might even try to prevail upon Hezbollah (in concert with its own forces in Syria) to launch rocket attacks on Israel. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-middle-east-48718959 Iran would likely turn first to its proxies, who could inflict major damage on American allies, experts say. Houthi rebels in Yemen could step up attacks against Saudi Arabian infrastructure with missiles and drones. Shiite militias could destabilize Iraq. Hezbollah, the Iran-backed terrorist organization, could attack Israel or other American interests anywhere in the world. https://www.nbcnews.com/news/world/if-u-s-strikes-iran-what-might-happen-next-n1020451
Mate read the comments properly. I’m not saying those countries would launch strikes, I’m saying that factions in those countries would. Shia militia, Hezbollah, insurgents. Yemen is ****ed as a country, yet the huthi rebels maintain a well armed and coordinated presence because they are armed and funded from outside. And this is just one example.
There's nothing more that Israel would love to see than a US attack on Iran. Netanyahu probably had his cock is his hand when he thought they were about to strike the other night. But do you know what ? As much as a prick as Trump is, he actually deserves some credit for pulling back from the brink and not going ahead. It would have been people like John Bolton and Mike Pompeo who would have engineered this and advised Trump to strike. They are full on warmongers and desperately want to attack Iran.
Unlikely. Due in large part to massive spending cuts since 2010, our armed forces are basically unable to operate in the field without US support. You can thank the Tories for that
Iran was beginning to behave itself. Then Trump got elected and binned off the nuclear agreement, so we’re back to square one. There are conflicting factions and power bases in Iran, just as there are in all countries - Europe, the US and the UN were trying to deal with and encourage the moderate, progressive elements. By tearing up agreements, Trump has weakened the hands of the moderates, and strengthened that of the extremists.
Indeed. Just as GW And Tone weren’t worried about Saddam and Iraq. The whole world is still paying the price for that little adventure, in all sorts of ways.
Comm thinks the US attacking Iran would just be met with a few men on horseback chucking stones. No big deal really....
I'm sure the u.s. will get over losing one or two bases. Not sure they even have any in Lebanon or Yemen. If the U.S plan an airstrike the rest of them guys aint doing **** mate. Dems the facts
That maybe so, but the facts are also that many different factions would suddenly be dragged into conflict if the US attacked Iran.
It would stir up a ****-storm, and there is absolutely no way of knowing how it would play out. But one thing we have learned from the last 18 years - when bombs fall in one corner of the world, shockwaves are often felt all over. There is cause for optimism though - for all his many faults, I don’t think Trump is a warmonger. There are, as always, hawks and doves in the US State Department. On this issue, Trump has shown signs that he may be listening to the doves - for now, anyway.
As I mentioned earlier, both John Bolton and Mike Pompeo are in the ear of Trump, engineering strategies for conflict with Iran. They want conflict 100% For all his faults, I don’t think Trump is an interventionist President. His self inflated opinion of himself means he believes in his own ability to negotiate 1-1 with world leaders, which (thankfully) he sees as more effective than military action.
He's an egomaniac that likes to flex his muscles ! You can see how much he adores the limelight and will ramp up the rhetoric then slide back !
He’s certainly that. He’s not mentally healthy at all. But I don’t think he wants to go to war - unless it’s a trade war, of course. Plus I think he knows that it’s the sons and daughters of his core supporters who would end up getting sent to war, and he knows he might not be forgiven when the bodies start coming home in bags again.
The cost of a massive conflict in Iran, that would have little or no payback financially will be his mindset imo. As he’s a businessman *cough* first and foremost. He can get all he wants in terms of his status at home merely from the posturing, without a shot being fired. I have no doubt that some of his military advisors plus the weapons industry will be trying to push for conflict, but I don’t think even he’s daft enough to go down that route. However, there’s a caveat here - he’s such a narcissistic sociopath that nothing is ever certain with him, and who knows what he might do if his polling drops in the run up to 2020.........
