    1) Cheerio to Clegg

    2) Appoint an old pro such as Warky / Burley / Holland as Director of Football or even a panel of several ex-players.

    3) Player development and acquisition is removed from the manager's remit.

    4) We employ a coach to get the best out of the players at the club.

    5) Short-term signings of has beens becomes a thing of the past, as does rebuilding the squad from scratch every 18 months.

    6) If a coach doesn't perform he moves on without the fear of having to spend another fortune on paying off contracts, moving players on and signing new ones.

Sorry lancy mate but cant agree with you.
    1) Clegg may or may not do a good job but at the end of the day he has a lot of contacts in the business side of things and I assume ME has the say in making money available for transfers etc. The boss is involved in the player targeting and transfer negotiations so I dont see what Clegg is actually being blamed for other than overhyping our ambitions each season as a way of enhancing ticket sales.
    2) Good players dont neccasarily make good management teams and if they cant have a decent relationship with the manager then it fails. a DoF could work but only in conjunction with the rest of the coaching and management team
    3) I think that is the worst idea possible. Have a manager who is forced to fit players he doesnt want into a system that will be thrust upon him due to the players he is given. How can a manager pick a team if he is not involved in the training side.
    4) surely thats what all managers and coaches are employed for.
    5) I agree totally that a long term strategic direction is required ( a 5 year plan or whatever) I dont like our signing policy but more importantly I am worried about signing players with a big past reputation but no current ability. We seem to want to do a mediocre galatico idea rather than build a team which can play together. A bit of experience is required but football is about blending the old with the young, the tall with the short, the pace with the strength.
    6) Dont honestly see how that would work

Football management doesnt need to be reinvented because we are having a bad time. All we need is a club which doesnt want everything here and now but has a 3, 4 or 5 year plan. The manager and coaching staff will then have less worry about instant results and can actually build something of substance. IF we have the right people in place all fighting for a common goal it should work well. Some of the additions mentioned may well help - A director of Football is enjoyed by many clubs but it needs to be a team effort where the DoF is a go between and a friend to both the footballing management and the boardroom.
The biggest thing though for me is the word TEAM, everybody has to share an idea, an ethos of what is happening. Burleys team, the Norwich team from last year or the blackpool team of recent years all share the fact that they never really had any big names but they had unity, a common goal, a hunger, passion and great team togetherness.

Hamps, you do realise that Supernorwich is an anagram of Punch Worries - he is clearly concerned about our club (possibly more than his own)

I have immediate worries that we have too many midifelders and not enough wingers and we don't defend well as a team. Not a lot of pace in the side and our key players aren't match fit yet.

However, I'm excited about what Jewell is building here. It annoys me that people pick up on comments from PJ like 'we need to grind out draws' and they totally ignore him when he says 'we want to be playing good football'. A lot of things have been taken out of context lately.

I feel Jewell has brought in players he knows have the quality to enable us to compete in this league but long term he will be searching for more Cresswell's from the lower leagues. Players with energy and hunger.

And Jewell gets slated for his comments about the clubs location and how this affects going to scout players and yet he has said he does get to games and has around 20 scouts at games every weekend, so what's the problem? It also has not been much of a problem when bringing players in recently as he's managed to sign a lot of decent players from all over the country. It's a bit of a non issue and people are just moaning for the sake of it.
