Just looked at the headlines on Sky sports transfer rumours, there is a message from DC on it apologising for this seasons results and asking the players not to let the club go backwards.
He also says that he is looking for another job in management and he is going to re- evaluate and prepare himself for the next challenge.
I wish him well and I fully believe that any club that employs him in the future will have a very good manager

Full statement from DC (released through the League Manager's Association)

"I would like to begin by saying what a privilege it has been to work for Bristol Rovers Football Club over the past five-and-a-half years; firstly as assistant manager and then as manager from March 2014 onwards.
I have been fortunate enough to develop a special bond with the club’s incredible supporters and I will always be thankful to them for the way they backed me, the staff and the players.
Together, we have created some incredible memories; returning to the Football League at the first attempt at Wembley Stadium, then following this up with automatic promotion to League 1. Those days and many others are etched in our minds and are something we can all take great pride in.
However, this season has been a disappointment for me. I want to take this opportunity to apologise to everyone connected with the club for the results so far. It’s not for the want of the lads trying. They have given me and the staff everything, always working hard and believing in each other. They are an honest bunch and I wish them the best for this season.
Last Thursday was simply the saddest of days, saying my goodbyes to everyone at the club. It’s a day that none of us wanted to experience, but that’s football. However, my last words to the players were a reminder that it would be even sadder if the club went backwards from here. I know the supporters will continue to back the lads, as they always have, and I wish caretaker manager Graham Coughlan all the best and hope they can climb the table soon.
A special mention must go to Marcus Stewart, who has supported me superbly as my assistant. I have built strong relationships with the President, board members, owners, past and present staff and players and fans, and I will look back on my time at Rovers with real fondness.
As for my own future, I have already spoken to colleagues within the game and I plan to watch some games, and will visit my peers and watch other coaches and players in action at their training grounds. I am a student of the game and you never stop learning as a manager. This will give me the chance to re-evaluate and prepare myself for the next challenge. I love football and I am excited about the next project, and what I can bring to that club, wherever that may be.
In the meantime, I will enjoy spending time over Christmas with my family, which is something people in football are not often afforded, and will acknowledge the incredible, unwavering support they give to me.
I wish everyone at Bristol Rovers Football Club nothing but love and success for the future. Please know that it has been a real honour to work for you.”

As an outsider can I comment that the above statement is clearly heartfelt and sincere. Don't know much about the man but he clearly cares about Bristol Rovers and the people involved with it. Has shown a lot of dignity with this statement and it's a pity those supposed higher league managers didn't have that much concern. They could learn a lot from this man on how to conduct themselves.

CJS Thanks for putting the above entry on, when I read that I more than ever believe the club have made a huge error in letting him go and finding someone with the same enthusiasm as DC had for this club will be a major task let alone someone who can give us the same amount of success as DC gave us with so little to spend. I know that some players haven't performed as he and we hoped they would but I don't think they are bad players he has signed just they haven't performed to the standards he hoped they would

Expect atwo or three of our former players to pitch up there soon. He'll want Sinclair but I expect Sinclair can do better than dropping down a league.

I think he will drop down though. He trusts DC and DC trusts him. He is a fitness freak so he will make Walsall a more fitter club. If he joins them, watch them get late goals through out the season.

I reckon Lines might drop down too. For some reason we have offered Partington a new contract but Coughlan said he was unsure if Partington will sign it due to a lack of football played last season. So he may drop down and join Walsall too as DC gave him a chance to get into the football league and DC knows what he is getting. DC likes a free signing as well and they trust each other. If Partington don't join him then I reckon DC will go for Leadbitter. What we do know for sure though is that DC likes signing former players because he trusts them. So I expect so ex Rovers players will join him. Hopefully he takes Payne and Nichols <laugh>.

Maybe Stewart will join him too in his backroom staff. Coughlan said we have too many backroom staff so some will move on. Maybe DC will take them too.

As long as he doesn't take James Clarke as I believe he would be a big miss and I don't think he would sign Payne again we wouldn't be that lucky

Was always on the cards I suppose that Stewie was going to become a leather apron as well, best of luck to both of them, I think Walsall will do well next season in that league.

GC has announced changes to his backroom staff

Chris Hargreaves taking over as U18s manager

Lee Mansell managing the development squad

Jo Dunne taking the Ass Managers job

Really pleased for Lee Mansell sad to see Chris Hargreaves dropping down to the U18s but I wish them well for the coming seasons

I think Mansell and Hargreaves should have stayed in their original roles for 1 more season. Give Mansell more experience with teaching/coaching at youth level to give him more experience ready for the upgrade to the development squad. Hargreaves did well assisting Coughlan and managing the development side. Don't try and fix something not broken.

Dunne is really a manager and not an assistant manager. He came to us last season in Feb on a voluntary basis. He has built up a relationship with Coughlan so would make sense to take the assistant manager job, as a stepping stone until another club comes calling for his services. If this is correct then I reckon he will be with us for 1 season if that. Maybe this is why Coughlan swapped Mansell and Hargreaves around as Mansell will one day be our assistant manager and then manager. So could be fast tracking him. Then again, I thought the same regarding Marcus Stewart!

I think CJS you forgot the loyalty piece of the equation re Marcus Stewart, I know it is not to common in football these days

I didn't mention the loyalty aspect because I only mentioned Stewart as a point of saying my opinion of Mansell, which was the same as I had for Stewart <ok>
