We had a brilliant season and we are stronger than we've been for a long time but I still don't think we have a strong enough squad. Is it time to be talking about making signings that are statements of intent?
wasn't alisson and VVD just that? I would agree in general. I would rather Klopp keep a firm check on michael edwards' spreadsheets than we buy 5 markovic, balotellis etc again. we have been linked to several players now that have been laughed at by "club sources" 2 keepers so far, both dismissed for example. Our squad will be: Alisson TAA Gomez VVD Robertson Henderson Fabinho Keita Salah firmino mane. so the first point is this; if we buy it would be imo to improve on firmino or keita or henderson (IMO) the "second team" Mingolet Gomez/ki Matip lovren Lewis/milner Milner windy ox Shaqiri brewster origi Lallana being then spare along with say Jones, my favourite duncan and maybe one or two other kids then the second point is this We know that forward line aint up to it.... right up to the point where brewster does a breakout preseason and we go wow for example.... that said... hand on heart i know Shaqiri and origi are not up to it week in week out of we need them from September onwards due to cruciate injury. So for me at least: GK: if mingolet wants to go with his league cup and cL medal and play games, fine best wishes... but if he's decided the grass is pretty green here and a mdeal is better than playing he'd be a very good back up keeper indeed. RB: i wouldn't buy. Ki is raw but my god he's got talent. TAA is world class potentially and we'd any number who can fill in a game or two plus gomez. CB: we all have opinions but for me the issue is we've 3 RCBs and one LCB so i cannot see lovren going and a de ligt come in. We might well see gomez being played lcb in preseason to bring his experience up. LB: theres an obvious gap No 6: we've 3 options. No 8: ketia to be backed, ox to come back, milner still there. Just can't see it. no 9: klopps got firmino but he's also got options he's used like mane and salah. Wide: origi for me worked a bit but i can't see it long term. Its a place i'd buy in. If klopp is wanting to look at his team and decide on a move later... thats fine by me. I still think its trust to luck up front but lets see what he sees in preseason. IMO the loan out list may tell a lot.
In 2007 CL final... our team was fairly strong. Rafa bought torres, babel ,skertl, mascherano, benayoun. we ended up in CL semi v chelsea and lost AET. we finished 4th in league. IMO in 2008 the team was still developing. In 2008/09 we should have had the team and we did well but the squad harmony was slightly broken. Robbie keane was bought but rafa was furious but keanse helped us to top the table before being sold at a big loss. Rafa also bought a lot of lesser players (dossena) and also rieira. We ende dup 2nd and in QF of CL... then the wheels came of big time. For me: Reina improved the CL winning side (dudek) Torres improved the CL winning side (baros) Mascherano improved us Hell kuyt improved us. I think in the end we were functional and worked hard but it was or should have been beyond the 2005 team./ Our team today v 2009 Reina v alisson TAA v johnson/finnan robertson v risse(left in 2008)/aurelio/dossena Carra v gomez vvd v hyppia Fabino v mascherano Henderson v alonso Keita v gerrard firmino v torres Salah v kuyt Mane v rieria/babel for me they are very different styles but right now despite how a kuyt or torres were great the only players I'd take as of now would be gerrard, alonso and carra maybe. top top players there. as a long long long reply people love... if you can find us an alonso great. if not don't waste money, develop keita and ox. if you can find a forward who can play all 3 positions up front great but otherwise nah.
I think we need a high level, versatile forward, Pepe ? Brewster can have a breakout season and be moulded into a Firminoesque type player but he's not ready yet which is why I think we need another established player up there. I wouldn't mind Ryan Sessegnon, given our penchant for signing relegated players, as nice young backup for LB. Nathan Ake would also suit us down to the ground as another young versatile player.
Offer them £50m including add ons. Then offer his dad £5m to get the deal done. Then get our local papers to write various stories about how desperate he is to leave. ****s.
Sessegnon would be a good shout and can play further forward too.....but would be very expensive imo. Werner is coming. We’ve been promised.
it's hard to know with sessegnon. how full of **** is his head at this point, is he willing to play 2nd fiddle. are spurs telling him he's bale mark ii etc etc.
Reporter: Dejan, Isn't it time to say goodbye to the Liverpool fans? Dejan Lovren: Why? Where are they going? Love it
We have some youngsters coming up we need to play them even from the bench. They need assurances that they are part of the club.
Klopp seemingly loves Brewster and doesn't even want to loan him. We still need quality cover across the front 3 though
imo if you are hanging round doing nothing but u23 you need a good look at yourself. woodburn. Wilson ejaroa imo Kent many go on loan in the big bad world some are pure.. well we will get you a career kid but it won't be here not go work and get your reward. some are a bit better and might make it at lfc but it's not easy. some stay to play and don't go. let's see what brewster is. let's see what Jones is. we will see I suppose
Klopp said when he first arrived that he doesn't like sending players out on loan. He likes to keep them nearby where he can keep a he on them and help them develop. If a player goes out on loan, he's doomed!
