Home and Away formations

  1. Ba has looked good when playing upfront with Best. Best is someone that actually wins things in the air and can play well with a partner. Ba looks much better playing off someone like that. Shola is ****e and wins next to nowt in the air and his passing dreadful 90% of the time.

Ba has already got an assist for Best, despite them only playing together for no more than 20 minutes.

Ba is a technical player. He's not the strong target man most people thought he'd be, but he's got good feet, pace and can link up well with others. Best is strong in the air and has good skill and decent agility.

Best can perform moments of magic and do a cheeky little faint or clever touch to set himself up for chances.

Shola... fowls players, runs about 50 yards a game, wins probably about 1 in 5 headers and doesn't hold the ball up nearly as well as some people say he does. He does it quite well at times but it doesn't matter because he'll get dispossessed or play a **** pass. He very rarely offers anything.

Neither Ba or Shola are good in the air when it comes to battling against CB's and nodding them down from GK's, but Ba has far more quality than Shola has.

Is Shola sucking the cock of each Newcastle manager? I just can't explain why the **** Shola is still getting games.

For most away games where we'll have a challenge on our hands, i'd play -

    -------Cabaye----Tiote-----

    Obertan-----------------Gutierrez

    -----------Marveaux--------

    -------------Best-------------

Best is the only player i could see up there by himself. Ba and Shola would just be ****ed over easily. If we're pushing for a win or a goal or w/e, we could bring on Ba. Best is the only striker we have that wins a good amount of headers from goal kicks and knocks them down well.

    Home i'd play -

    ---------Cabaye-------Tiote------------

    Obertan-----------------------Gutierrez

    -----------Ba------------Best----------

    Agreed?

No. We shouldnt have two set formations for home and away games, the squad is big enough for regular rotation.

I don't always agree but I agree entirely with this.

Obviously Ben Arfa will compete with Marveux and Jonas when he's back.

  4. Well i didn't mean these would be our formations for the rest of the season, just for the foreseeable future mate <ok>

Obviously when Ben Arfa gets back he'll be challenging for a spot.

I would still prefer a five man midfield in away matches to be honest, however I agree no side should be set in stone.

I'd like a 5 man midfield for the Villa game, but I think the formation every week should be decided on current form, so if we played well and won I wouldnt want to see a player dropped to bring another striker in just for the sake of playing 4-4-2

I think it's fair to say we don't really know what our best eleven is yet but we need to find one that creates more upfront. Pardew needs to experiment a bit more to establish this.

Does tash rate his own threads? 5 star within 10 seconds of posting.......On another note I find myself agreeing with your thread... Id replace Marv with Cabaye and drop Gosling in deep.

  10. It's because there's 1 or 2 users that constantly rate my threads 1 star regardless of the contents of the article, so i feel it only fair that i counter it with a 5 star.

I think we could see a five man midfield as well as Santon and possibly even Gosling in the starting XI. Cabaye was anonymous for most of yesterday, simply because the midfield was over-run, I could see Gosling or Guthrie coming in to support Tiote.
