Tonight's starting eleven - Sullivan Evina Doherty Cort Francis Hughes Green Pritchard Bover Benson Euell Nice to see some of the young lads on the bench: Davisson, Warren, Popo and the new lad Smith. So gutted I couldn't go tonight. My new diabetic medication has left me feeling very low. The side effects are really quite grim. Oh well. We are there in heart and spirit, eh? COYR.
Im @ Home tonight Ponders Sheffield United are 2-0 down putting us top of the League and Stevenage are 4-0 up over Sheffield Wednesday (only 35mins gone)
Hate to see Charlton lose any match but what with the way results are going would anyone mind (or care) if we were to lose tonight?
Welcome, guys. Great news regarding the Sheffield clubs and their respective beatings. Does anyone know how we are playing tonight? Have we had much of the ball, so far?
Good to see the team focusing on the league and moving to the top of the table. Sounds like PNE very much on top so far.
According to Tony Cottee on the Soccer Special we started well but since the goal we've not created anything and Preston are unlucky not be more ahead. Simon Francis got a Yellow Card early on and was lucky not be sent off after Russell ran clear!!
Yes, I would. Winning is a good habit and the reserves beating Reading gave the club and fans a lift. No downside to remaining in the League Cup so long as continue to play those not in the first XI and those needing a run-out like Green and Evina. Much better for them than playing meaningless friendlies (or "development matches" as the new politically-correct jargon would have it). We expected to go out against Reading playing an all reserve side and you guys were saying you wouldn't mind if we lost. But I didn't notice any posts afterwards from Addicks saying they were sorry we won. Sounds like double standards to me.
Just looking on the bright side Eddie. (you'll never see me moaning after a defeat) I agree with you it would be a pain in the arse going out tonight because it gives Evina and the likes a chance to shine though as I've said before you'll get the FA Cup where we'd also get prize money where as in the Carling Cup you dont (and we've also got the Kent Senior Cup whenever that is) To put it simple win or lose tonight its a double edged sword (we could go on for weeks arguing the positives and the negatives)
Good points, Eddie. Plus, I am sure that the fans there tonight would like to see us win and put in a good performance.
On a side note am EXTREMELY disappointed that Doherty got the nod ahead of Mambo tonight - Whats all that about...
Oh talk of the devil - Mambo and Wagstaff come on to Start the 2nd Half in place of Francis and Benson
That is a good point, A4L. Mambo had a good game in the first round and deserved to play tonight. Plus he is a threat at set-pieces.
