Not any longer....He used to live opposite me in Hedge end......He has moved back up to Newcastle to be close to one of his daughters, about a couple of years ago...unless of course he has moved back down....
Had to wiki this one...Interesting, not the first black player to sign, but (44 years later) the first to play. English and had a 1:3 goal ratio at Sporting Lisbon. Lee Todd! That's when in an economy drive, we were signing players which sounded like they could be tiny wee versions of Saints legends
You sure about that? I've looked it up as well, several sources (Well, Wiki and thisishampshire) say the first player you're thinking of did play one league game.
Thanks for that just couldn't remember his name...... Actually he came back down around the Paint pot final not sure if he went though.......haven't seen him since.
Yep, Dan you're right he did make an appearance according to wiki, but some stuff conflicts that; http://www.bbc.co.uk/southampton/features/bhm/bhm_football.shtml ...depends what Alf Charles resource you go with. I'm sure there are some peeps old enough/knowledgeable enough on here to get Joey's question though ...and maybe know who was our first black player to get a league app?
In fairness, that article doesn't say he never played either. An article about Black History Month on thisishampshire said he played one league game, though there's no evidence to say he did or didn't that I can find.
I started my career as a Saints youth player but was homesick.I did play for Saints towards the end of my career and even had a short spell as Caretaker Manager. Who am I
Guess. Denis Wise --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- EDIT: SaintMarv posted his question at 6.46am, so he's probably not around. Just in case I'm right [think I am], here's one to work on as well: I was with 8 clubs in my career, but Saints were the only English one. I retired for a couple of years, but then decided to play again. Who am I..?
But wasn't that as their goalkeeping coach..? OK, I think a clue is due, because I have to leave for work in an hour or so. Here's the question again + the clue: I was with 8 clubs in my career, but Saints were the only English one. I retired for a couple of years, but then decided to play again. When I retired I became a SKY pundit. Who am I..?
OK, Peeps. Got to go. Don't want to leave you hanging out there waiting for an answer, so I'll give it to you here and now. Here's the full question first: I was with 8 clubs in my career, but Saints were the only English one. I retired for a couple of years, but then decided to play again. When I retired I became a SKY pundit. I played for Scotland. Who am I..? If you can't see the answer, then good, as I've hopefully made the text the same colour as the background on your computer, so that you can have a last go yourself. Highlight the space after the Answer below, to get the player's name. Cheers. Answer: Neil McCann
I guessed he was Scottish. I have to admit i cheated in the end which is just as well that i did coz i had no idea Neil MCcan was a Sky pundit.
OK, as nobody has posted another Saints player, I guess it's my go again. Perhaps you're all bored with the game. I'll chance it with this one. You can cheat, I don't mind. If it's a race to see who gets it first, then that's probably better than not getting it at all. Anyway, here goes with a relatively easy one, I think: Question: I am two Saints players. One a defender, one a striker. But I have the same name. Who am I..? Let's see how quickly you can get that one.
