what's actually seriously demented about RD's approach to this sale is that the club is a collection of valuable objects. the ground, the training ground, players and manager. He's allowing our 3 most prized assets to leave for free - aribo, bowyer and bauer - and asking for more money. the club would be much more appealing if these three were tied down on long term contracts. he should just give them the going rate, knowing that in a months time he wont be liable for their wages. the man is just a twisted sad little sh1t who just hates the fans. he doesnt care about the millions worth of damage he's doing to himself even, he just wants to hurt the fans.
My own theory - this won’t be universally popular - is that Rick Everitt & CARD made it personal - and now he’s getting his own back. Hence changing his mind on whim every day. He can’t be that demented in real life - he’s built a billion euro business ! He’s undoubtedly a twat when it comes to football as witnessed by his behaviour at Standard Liege / but I did post about two years ago that Everitt & CARD were taking on a bull elephant armed with a pea shooter .... Duchatelet can afford to let us dangle for al long as he wants. If I were the oikish loudmouth Everitt I would take a welcome vow of silence, and lets see how Dalmat plays out.
Perhaps l missed something, but l believe Dalmat has already stated that he is staying with Cardiff, so l assume the proposed takeover from that direction is dead?
As good a theory as any I suppose when it comes to trying to read RD's mental process. I was told by someone who used to work with Mick Everitt that what really got up his nose was the support we got from the locals on the St Truiden demo. I also find it a bit far-fetched to believe that he makes business decisions, like turning down £40m from the Arabs which NLA was positive about, based on a personal dislike of Rick. If Peter Varney was involved, maybe, although Richard Murray would have some input there you would think. But if you look at the uncensored rants on the OS you are not looking at a wholly rational man.
If Roland wanted to make it personal hhed say his not selling the club and not prepared to lose any more money. Tbh i don't know why he doesn't stay and see if he can fluke the premiership
you can only fluke so far and i think we did that this/last season... his life would be so much more stress free if he just took the £35m on offer, any which way it comes, and goes away.
It is not Everitt's fault, the protests in general, maybe. Dushitelet has had an ulterior motive all along, and I think it is to do with land. Either The Valley or Sparrows Lane, or both. Is that good enough for you?
RD bought Charlton with what he thought was a brilliant idea- to make money through interchanging a pool of players between a network of European clubs. He had no football knowledge himself, so employed Thomas Driesen, who declared himself to be a wizard with football stats. The final piece of the jigsaw was to employ a promising young lawyer to run Charlton. In a nutshell the whole thing was a total failure, leading to the car park protests and eventually the appearance of the dreaded megaphone and the formation of CARD. What RD has been doing now is to try to rewrite history, blaming the protests for all the clubs problems, including the difficulty in selling, and sadly Jim White has colluded with him. IMO the protests have had no impact on anything and CARD has failed. I've played a part in supporting them and it just seems to have been wasted effort. B20 made a mistake singling out the Meire seniors, but they were independent of CARD. My guess is that Roland's only motive was to prove his own brilliance, and he has been unable to face up to the fact that he has been extremely stupid, blaming a host of other people for his failure.
Some of the actions have been counter productive gimmicks ...shoving a note with “Fvck off” through his letterbox in Belgium probably put another £5m on the asking price. Unfortunately this isn’t the 1980s and the Valley Party & Peter Cordwell printing nice stories in the Mercury. The world has moved on but someone’s ego hasn’t.
The most futile football ownership in history. RD had the financial clout & initially the goodwill to be a success at Charlton ...even after he justifiably sacked Powell, he still could have turned it round with 99.9% of our fans.
