Yeah this, people can complain what if it had been so and so who said this, you would be screeching, these are the same people who said nothing about Nigel’s cry to arms. I’d also suggest the radio 4 listeners don’t exactly cause much chaos unless they loose their slippers where as a lot of those arrested for violence and criminal damage on anti Eu marches and the like are usually a supporter of Nigel’s politics so ... yeah Nige and his comments are significantly more dangerous.

Look these politicians totally deserve the odd bit of physical abuse ... we certainly can’t impact them with mental abuse ... you can’t make a **** feel anything

The bastards in power are lying

No one thinks he's actually going to pick up a rifle. It's the fact that he's deliberately putting insurrection in the minds of his followers that is disturbing.

Let's put it this way - If Jim Davidson had made the same comments about Jeremy Corbyn all hell would have broken loose and the same people defending Jo Brand would have been vilifying Davidson. Therein lies the total hypocracy of the people defending her.

Put simply it's ok for the luvvie left brigade, it's just comedy but if it's a right wing or Tory they are fascists, Nazis and should burn in hell...

I'm not defending her. It was a stupid, crass thing to say, but it is in the context of her being a comedian on a Radio Four show.

Farage is dangerous, Jo Brand isn't.

FFS, get over it......she’s a comedian (not a great one I’ll admit).....she tells jokes and makes sarcastic comments, that’s her style.
I don’t like the racist **** Davidson, Brown and Manning said but they made a good living from making other racist ****s laugh....it’s comedy, it’s subjective and nothing should be out of bounds, however distasteful some my find it.
Another step in the slippery slope of censorship.

The luvvies constantly dress nasty stuff up as a joke. We shrug and roll our eyes. But for me, what Brand said crossed the line and I hope the police, investigating now, caution her.

Caution her for what? She was reported for incitement to violence, by one of Farage's sheeple obviously. But you know it clearly wasn't anything of the sort, crass, stupid and painfully unfunny but it wasn't a call ****ing call to arms and you know it. You seriously want police time spent on this? ****ing ridiculous time we live in.

The police are investigating pursuant to a large number of complaints from the public. That's fact.

As the Brexit Party gains democratic success, so these left wing comedic-activists ramp up the venom against certain politicians. In saying that throwing milkshake at politicians is pathetic and it should be battery acid, Brand has crossed the line. There is no such thing as absolute free speech. After Jo Cox's death, anything that might encourage violence against any politician should be knocked back. Hope Brand gets that caution and the irresponsible BBC are censured

Should Farage be cautioned over his 'call to arms' then?

No, because it was clearly a WW1 type metaphor and was made at a private meeting. I agree that all this belligerent type language is best avoided.

It may well have been a metaphor, but it was an incitement to violence all the same.

I don't think many saw it as such, even at the time. Compare that with the strong public reaction to Brand's comments about throwing acid at politicians.
