Exactly, I was wondering how long it would take for people to figure that. If they tried to sell it off, people would object, so it's easier to let the people decide then give the people what they want. Odds on it is sold to Fox.
See also the police, prisons, NHS and pretty much anything else that they can get their grubby hands on.
If they try Police and Prisons, they will get their hands burnt. Particularly Prisons, there would be an incentive for repeat customers, not ideal. With the NHS I'm surprised that they haven't offered tax breaks for people having private medical insurance.
They've already gone partway with the prisons and it's gone under the radar. Here's an article by Malcolm Rifkind, of all people, slagging it off: https://www.ft.com/content/6184ddb4-57c2-11e9-8b71-f5b0066105fe The police will suffer the same gradual erosion, but it'll take longer. People care about the police. They don't give a **** about prisoners.
And, by complete coincidence, it was Chris Grayling who signed off on it - to predictable results for the taxpayer...
So the vote to block No Deal was defeated by eleven votes Or to put it another way, the DUP were the difference between the bill getting through and the bill being defeated - although Kate Hoey, Graham Stringer and Ian Austin managed to take the difference into double figures, so I'm sure they're feeling proud of themselves right now...
It shows how tribal our political system is. Why did so many Tories vote against when they have publicly stated their opposition to No Deal? Brexit is an impossible conundrum when our MPs can't decide whether to vote along party lines, out of personal conviction or for the wishes of their constituents - and seem to flirt between all three depending on the circumstances. Still a farce..
My money is on Johnson to win ………….. the next series of "Get me out of here," following in the footsteps of such illuminati as Tony Blackburn!
Of course, the vocal Lib Dem drones on Twitter are screeching about the fifteen Labour abstainers...yet somehow failing to note there were 11 Tory abstainers, which any intelligent person would deduce might have something to do with the pairing rules for Commons votes and nothing more, which also means they'd have a hell of a time trying to point the finger at specific MPs (other than the likes of Hoey and Stringer, obviously) ...I did specify it was the Lib Dupe faithful screeching this, right?
Well that went pretty much as expected. I predict as the voting rounds progress, more and more will jump on the Gove and Hunt trains, pushing out Johnson by a handful of votes last minute.
**** EuroTrump will probably walk it, unless he speaks in public or one of his many, many scandals derails him at the death. I suspect that he's got more skeletons in his closet than Jeffrey Dahmer did, but it's down to who knows about them and what they want. Not much of a surprise to see McVey and Leadsom take an early bath, though. Not sure why Harper bothered to get involved at all.
"I'd totally commit that crime that I've been accused of!" Swiftly followed up with: "This self-confessed traitor has a great lawyer! Woo-hoo!" Just for the record, Trump has gone to the FBI. He simply can't stop lying. He talked to them about his mob mates and some random woman phoning him a lot.
