Speaking totally pragmatically, with Modric and Kroos not getting any younger their real area of need is pretty much identical to us - a deeper lying creative midfielder. Eriksen has played there in fits and starts and has done an adequate job without setting the world aflame but as 95% of his spurs career has been at AM where Real are spoilt for choice, I can't immediately see where they would fit him in unless they have a total clear out of the 5 or 6 players all vying for the same 2 spots in the team. It's no coincidence Kroos just signed a new bumper deal tying him to the club until 34. They are probably paranoid they won't succeed in bringing anyone in and, worse case scenario, sticking with him is their best option.
Ndombele Watch Remember how, a day or so ago, the headlines were saying we'd "only" offered £50m for him, which clearly ignored add-ons etc? Now the headlines are saying we've offered £66.6m
Bit misleading to say we’re closing in only to then say in the article “talks are at an early stage and far from agreeing anything” but nonetheless, sounds like the wheels are in motion. Whether we can fend off the Manchester clubs and Juve or not will be tough but here’s hoping Danny boy pulls it out the bag.
Real complete the signing of Ferland Mendy from Lyon for £47m. No idea what he's like as the french league is so cack and one-sided I literally haven't watched a game in about 5 years. So that brings their summer spending to: Hazard £90m (+£50m bonuses) Jovic £53m Militao £47m Rodrygo £40m Mendy £47m = £277m (£327m with Hazard's weekly shop taken into account) Which means they are either preparing a major clear out, or the Spanish government recently very quietly purchased a car park in the vicinity of the Bernabeu for 600% of its market value. Or both.
Most likely outcome will be that he runs his contract down and goes to Real for nothing next summer. Levy needs to get realistic.
Oh, I read an article from a few months back which was in praise of him in Germany, and that his attitude was much better too.
At first I thought that Godzilla had been sick on a football pitch Turns out it's just Ndombele's heat map...
Isn't it incredible how Mino Raiola's Italy transfer ban has been lifted just as client Paul Pogba appears to be inching closer to a Juve return? I imagine some judicial figures at the Italian Federal Court of Appeal will be enjoying some of the tasty finder's fee coming Raiola's way.
Recently I said that 100m WITHOUT sales was easily possible based on the actual/likely profits for THFC the past two seasons.
You may just be right. If ever there was a time you’d want the English media to be correct about something...
I'm trying my hardest not to get too excited about this possible signing. I just have this nasty feeling some other sugar Daddy funded club will come in last minute and destroy any offer we put forward. It's inevitable.
