Howson out, Clayton in when fit, Brown out Mika in. I think this is a massive step forward. We could do with pugh for left cover, either LM or LB.

if Brown manages to get fit too and is more like the player he was, he will still have a positive impact for us.

But on the other hand before talking to us he had signed a pre-contract agreement with Red Bull Salzburg, who are in the Europa League. He's also a full international under the age of 30 who has played nearly 200 times in the Eredivisie.

Probably because of his injury record. Not sure how he'll fit in - how long is Clayton actually out for? I guess Vaeyrynen and Brown/Clayton could work as a partnership.

This seems a promising signing. He's an international, only 29 and has played for some good teams. If he's fit, then play him alongside Clayton.

I think we tried to sign him in July but he wanted too much money, but then changed his mind because he and Forssell are best mates and Mikael talked him into coming here. I have no doubt Salzburg will have been offering more money, they'll be furious since he signed a pre-contract agreement with them.

I'm not sure about Howson, I think it's simply the fact he is playing out of position. He is an AM first and a CM second by a long way. IMO we should play 4-2-3-1 with Clayton and Vayrynen in the middle with Becchio up top and any 3 of McCormack, Howson, Snoddy and Nunez (and White if Pugh signs) in behind.

I agree with that. The only reason we switched to a 4-4-2 was cause Brown was injured. That system would bring the best out of Snoddy, Nunez, Howson and I think McCormack and Clayton would play well too.

Aww, aren't the Heerenveen fans lovely! Could do with some of them here!

They all seem to like him as a player, by the looks of things, if he can stay fit and is played in the right position, he could be a great signing.
