No golf today on account of the rain but there's always tomorrow...weather permitting...and the next day, and the next and all while some of you are at work! (you know who you are).
US Open starts on Thursday at Pebble Beach. I'd love to see Tiger in contention again. Howaaaayyyyyy Tiger
He has to be one of the favourites like doesn't he? He seems to start slow in big tournaments now, keeping him in sight of the leaders (if he's not up there himself) and making sure he makes the cut and then unleashes the roar for Sat and Sun. McIlroy and Koepka will be up there as well no doubt but I have a sneaky feeling that Jordan Speith might do very well. He is slowly getting back to his form from 3-4 years back and is starting to get himself into contention of late now.
Have you been out of late, Crone? I played Ravensworth on Monday, greens had been ironed for Sunday's tournament, they were lightning fast ffs. Some nice holes on that course, the Island, the two after that, infact all of the third course. I almost drove the tenth and eleventh, just short of both greens with booming drives. There's always a few females out on the course as well, a few oldies and a few who are younger. While it's all very well looking online at pics of young women it's much better getting out and meeting them
Remember that fence picture I put up a page or so ago that was hampering my ability to get out? Well......her indoors thought it would be a nice idea for the other fence in the garden to match (it was well ****ed to be honest) so that has pretty much consumed any non-work time I've had whilst the weather has been ok-ish. I am pleased to say that has now been completed and I can sit happily now and marvel at my creation....and i absolutely do because I am ****ing **** at DIY Once the borders are sorted and the path behind the fence are all tidied up etc that'll be it done.....oh and a new gate to match! So NO I bloody haven't been out of late and it's pissing me off, and now the weather is **** and likely to be **** for about a week so that is now pissing me off as well ! So tempting to spunk £500 or so on a week in Portugal playing golf like, if I didn't have my PfCO course (Drone commercial licence) coming up I'd be off in a shot like! The Island is a mad mad hole mate. You're doing well to come away with a par on that one. I drove the green on the hole after it the last time I was out which I'll probably never do again but it's sweet when it happens innit? I've been very close to the green on the 10th and the 11th, the 11th is a bit harder with it being uphill and you're always nervous about them trees up the left! Thankfully my game has come on leaps and bounds and I'm no longer nervous about the houses behind said trees ....I'd bloody hate to live there like ! As soon as the weather is dry I'm gonna be off like a rocket and the missus ain't gonna see me for about a week solid I reckon ! I don't mind playing when it's a bit wet but (a) i have no waterproofs (yet) and (b) it's a twat trying to keep your grips dry which annoys the hell out of me. Chuck in some wind and the golf course just ain't the place to be....aside from the fact that it's closed at the mo due to the rain. They've had a fair few comps on there of late so the course is the best it's ever been for a long time by all accounts.
Tough start for the featured groups so far at Pebble Beach....unless you're Jon Rahm of course! McIlroy already 6 back from the current leader (Piercy) and he's only played 3 holes and he's +1. Could be a tough weekend for some I reckon.
Born in SA to English parents I believe and came here when young. He's English, one of my favourite golfers.
