    Lo Celso Watch
Some local rag in Seville have reported we have offered "only" €35-40m for Lo Celso and had the bid rejected PDQ...which of course a certain Baddiel-faced twatsack has leapt upon like a horny leopard seeing a gazelle and thinking "Good enough"

While this has led to the usual "FFS Levy/ENIC" comments online, personally I believe the report falls into one of two scenarios
i.) It's complete bollocks, which the lack of quotes from anyone at Betis certainly points towards
ii.) We did make an offer of €35-40m...but that was the upfront price with the remainder of the fee as add-ons

However, if the latter is the case, it's no surprise that Betis turned it down considering PSG have a 20% sell-on clause as when you take the €7-8m from the upfront fee they'd have made an utter pittance on a player they only signed in April and would be waiting presumably at least a season for the next slug of cash to become available

    Deadwood Watch
France Football report that Monaco have absolutely no interest whatsoever in making any offer for GKN, so he'll be cluttering up our squad for a while longer

At this rate we may as well consider bundling him in with any offer for Jack Clarke

O Jogo have reported that Sporting have accepted a £62.5m bid

That's a £62.5m bid from us, in case anyone was confused

I think we’ve got funds to bring in a few players this summer. Been 18 months since we last signed anyone and in that time we’ve received a huge windfall from the CL plus carrying over money from last summer (albeit there is still a stadium to pay for).

I don’t think two CMs (at the very least one), a RB, a Toby replacement and ideally another Lucas/ Son is out of the realms of possibility. The big chunk will go towards the CM(s) and RB but I’d still like to think there’ll be money for other positions, especially when considering we’ll receive a decent amount from the likely sales of Toby, Eriksen, Trippier and any others we can shift.

Perfect window would see two of Ndombele/ Lo Celso/ Fernandes, ideally AWB or a top RB, Sessegnon and a solid CB (Andersen?). Strengthens our XI/ squad despite the likely losses of two key players.

Watched him last night, certainly loves a shot from long range! Looked quite silky though. Can see why Utd/ Pool have been linked with him for a while and why we’re now interested. Good news if true.

As for the Twitter ITK, it’s good to see they’ve come out again, always makes stuff fun.

I estimate profits for the past two seasons total 220m + .
You could do a 100m transfer/wage fee war chest, pay 50m
capital repayment on new WHL, and still have 70m quid spare.

I don't know DH. I think the moved he hoped would materialise was last summer and it never happened. Most probably to United. They are now being linked strongly with younger players such as Maguire and Koulibaly of Napoli (although I honestly fail to see what the fuss is about him, especially as the asking price would make him the most expensive defender of all time). £25m for Toby is a steal even if he is now the wrong side of 30 and with his fair share of injury concerns. But for the wages he reportedly wants, who would be that interested? PSG? Barca as a stop-gap? Either way I can see him back at Ajax or in China/America in 2 or 3 years. What is clear is that he is very purposefully keeping the door open at Spurs, which is unusual for a player who 'desperately' wants to leave.

If AWB is as good as everyone seems to think then we should put the bid in for him since FB's are pivotal for our system to work

I’m not quite sure who he’ll join but I’d be extremely surprised if he’s still a Spurs player.

He probably won’t get the £180k he wants now but I don’t think he’ll get far from it from a club desperate for a top CB.

If he ends up staying then he’s essentially shot himself in the foot for two years as he could’ve been earning £130k since last summer instead of the £80k he’s currently on.

Dan Kilpatrick reporting that the club are mystified by Danny Rose's comments regarding any policy to move players on once they reach a certain age...

    https://www.standard.co.uk/sport/fo...sed-by-comments-over-his-future-a4164481.html

I said exactly this immediately after he said it.

He really should lay off giving interviews for a while. It isn't going to help him with MP or DL and I doubt that any prospective purchasers want a player going off half cocked about their club either.

    Let it go, Danny.

Tidal wave of reports out of Spain today that Zidane isn't interested in Eriksen as he doesn't see him as having a big game mentality.

Have to say I agree. If anyone knows what a big game mentality is, it's Zidane. And Eriksen has probably the entire package apart from that and being able to clear the first man at corners. Hazard is a big game player. Eriksen is not.

You also forget their fickle/self-entitled/toxic supporters.
Critique of Eriksen can vary, but it never spews out onto the WHL pitch
nor from the UK hacks. The Madrid ecosystem is a whole new level of poison.

Peak Eriksen would be in a team like Barca or Citeh, where you always
have one or two world class players who can dig your team out of a
hole when you are not fronting up.

That's a good point but I don't see it as being a huge problem for Eriksen. He has such a naturally calm temperament and isn't at all a confidence player in the same way that others (e.g. Trippier, Alli, Sissoko, Lamela) are that I don't think the baying mobs of Madrid will get to him too much. But I did say as soon as Zidane took over that I felt his chance to move there was suddenly looking very slim.

I think this one will drag on all summer, annoyingly, as Real pursue other targets and if those fail they'll come knocking for Eriksen. In the wider picture of putting puzzle pieces together, this might also be why it's all gone suddenly very quiet on the Lo Celso front. Are we suddenly wondering where we'll find £70m? When you look at how quickly and decisively they moved for Jovic and Hazard, something seems a little off.

Perhaps it was just the international break interrupting negotiations. Either way, we need the Eriksen situation resolved asap due to the domino effect it will have on the rest of our dealings.

Good. Let them sign Pogba, who barely has a normal size game half the time.

Eriksen would not be a regular in the City team. He would be on their bench for the big ones

Hopefully the Madrid rumours are true and they are ****ing Eriksen off. Can’t see who else he’d join, possibly Bayern, doubt he’d go Inter who were/ are supposedly interested.

New contract tingz now please, Chris!

A while ago Madrid said that they weren't interested in Harry Kane because he was an introverted character. Compared to Harry, Christian Eriksen is a Trappist Monk and personally, I'd dismissed any suggestion of him going to Madrid/Barcelona at the same time. I think it would be a poor environment for him (akin to Coutinho at Barcelona) but he seems to want to try it there.

I can see why Zidane would prefer Pogba, albeit he has failed at United....after all, who hasn't of late?
