Don't get me wrong I wasn't having a go, thought the thread was more on Shola in the present, I'm sure we'd all agree that his past glories, goals and contributions have been mightily helpful, i was just saying he can't cut it now regardless of his previous form....and I'm with you 100% on the "who else is there" argument - unless we get someone small, quick and technical in this coming January we're buggered!

on that, I'm off to emulate shola in the wind and rain by constantly getting tackled, falling over and missing the target! :(

Apologies. I wasn't sure if it was serious or not. He really is just awful though.

    ...

He had potential I must admit!

But now.. and actually MANY years ago(Post-2005-2006 season) he's been average at BEST! Except in the derby games and when he ripped the Championship apart. Otherwise RIGHT now he's pish poo! No technical ability, no pace, etc..

Good in the air? that's probably about it.. if Pardew starts him on Saturday.. !!!! <rage>

You're probably right, and if we do get one of our targets in January he'll be bumped to fourth at best and may look to move on (or retire if the injuries are too much). My only issue is with those disgusted that he got a presumably low earning contract extension to keep him on as backup, which I see as no issue at all, even last season he scored against the mackems and two past said John Terry in the cup. If he's not holding back any promising youngster (Phil Aireys not there yet and Rangers a dick) then I'm happy for him to rotate in for the cups and make cameo appearances when we've injury problems.

Edit: I clearly misread your last line but the rest still stands...

I love Shola but he is absolutely atrocious at football. Why does every manager insist on playing him regularly? Start Ba, man!

We're crying out for a proven goal scoring striker, and Shola isn't it.

Actually his backheel to Shearer for Shearer's record breaking goal was good too! Nah Shola could have been good but most of us agree he got buggered by being played through injury. He's professional, dedicated and a good lad but he is just too crap now, it's like putting some random crowd member up: they want to succeed but ultimately they are too **** to do so.
