From the article, it sounds like he went someplace where he was sure to play a lot. If we signed him, he would probably go out on loan right away.
Watching UKR vs LUX. Vincent Thill looks good dribbling, passing and defending. I hope we sign him based on this performance. But even if the rumor is true, there will be plenty of teams looking to sign him.
The fact other teams know about him puts us on the back foot though he must be tempted to join a coach like Farke with the track record he's had of bringing youngsters forward. From his previous moves, he sounds like he has his head screwed on. We seemed to do our best recruitment in recent years finding unknowns overseas without other teams breathing down our necks. Expecting more news this week with the international window now open!!
A quick chat with Maddison, Lewis or Aarons should help swing it. Anyone got their numbers? Although in this country, and presumably abroad as DF is a German head coach, much was made of his work with young / academy players and will have not gone unnoticed, I'm sure.
Indeed, it can’t have ‘gone under the radar’ how DF has developed a succession of youngsters in addition to resurrecting the failing careers of other players. We also now have excellent training facilities at Colney. The only flaw I can see in an exciting player coming to NR1 is that we won’t be able to offer them six figure salaries, but can instead offer to play in a team where the team comes first, an exciting playing style and there are no players with egos!!!!
Your final point about 'egos' could be the key, JMF. If money is the most important thing at 19, then he's probably not for us. He did make a point about wanting to play for a possession oriented team and as HMQC says, DF's willingness to play young players could also help our chances.
I can't see it myself, I don't think he's the right type of player. WBA had Gayle running the channels, getting in behind and making space, whilst Rodriguez played much more with his back to goal. It's a different option, which I'm not against, but I'm not sure he suits us. A £5m release clause suggests value, but at 29, likely to already be on wages beyond our current squad, and with other clubs interested, I can't see it.
I could see him as an alternative to Rhodes in that role, with similar wages I imagine. Not sure whether he'd suit the squad ethos though.
PD's conclusion on Rodriguez: "LIKELIHOOD: Hardly a surprise to see both Norwich and Sheffield United linked with a striker who looks a cut above the Football League. Even if an initial £5m fee would seemingly represent an astute piece of business, the list of reported suitors suggests this is a non starter. Stuart Webber made it clear recently a similar financial package, to tempt Jordan Rhodes to return from Sheffield Wednesday, was out of the question and with Norwich looking at other options to provide competition for Teemu Pukki this is not a link that sets the pulse racing." Think that could be about right.
Max Aarons on Palace's radar! [If you are going to slide off, Max, you can do better than that ] https://www.edp24.co.uk/sport/norwi...DzfT6m07dsCohQAKgSOKIn8Qv7_BPyPCvNkEVZ1o6vlNo
Yeah. Max is all over Twitter at the moment. United interested in him if they can't get Bissaka too. Plus Leipzig and Spurs.
If we let him go i would consider that a betrayal from the board and the player. If we can't offer Premier league football next season and lose revenue then of course let him go but i would hope we will keep our best players . Most on here are not expecting any big transfer signings coming in but Farke needs to be given a sporting chance of keeping us up. Without Max that task will be even more difficult. I'm pretty confident the players that fought so hard to get us there will still be with us at the start of next season .
It's a short career, he's a very good young British player. Of course there will be interest from his side and other clubs perspective. You or I wouldn't turn down double the money and a chance at winning stuff. I want him to stay but wouldn't blame him if he left for in his view the right offer. The club should play hardball and get a good fee if he is to leave but they are unlikely to put up too much fight if he hands in a transfer request. With all that said, it's just paper talk so far so, for now I wont worry. I trust Webber to find a decent quality replacement if it comes to it too. Bah!
I agree that it's paper talk and SW has said there have been no approaches for any player. All of the young players except Cantwell are on four year contracts so it would take really silly money for players unproven in the PL to tempt us into selling.
Yes Rick, as I've said previously, it would be beneficial to each of the players to have at LEAST one season in the PL with NCFC and prove themselves as JM has done with applomb!!
