My opinions are always based on facts as opposed to you accepting an opinion of some chap in the bread queue as gospel.

When respected senior Labour MPs with decades of experience in high political positions call for the expulsion of one of their own MPs there must be a clear breach of their standards. They are quite capable of weighing up the facts. You can judge their deliberations yourself.

So what is your definition of anti Semitism ? And is she guilty of it ?

  3. Do we know what she actually said or did?

The Jewish Voice for Labour has released a statement of support for Lisa Forbes - like many others they are worried that this regurgitation of the 'anti semitic' label is being used to suppress legitimate criticism of Israeli State policies.

According to many of her fellow MPs she is guilty of anti semitism. I would rather accept the view of somebody as experienced as Margaret Hodge than you.

Stop evading the question SH. I have no vested interests here, in contrast to Margaret Hodge, and many others, who are using this whole thing as a stick to beat over Corbyn's head. It is easy enough to find out exactly what Lisa Forbes has done, written or said on this subject - and then to declare, for yourself, whether you think she is an anti Semite or not, on that basis.

Just for clarity, Foster had clicked the Facebook like button on a video showing solidarity with victims of the Christchurch terror attack to which text was appended accusing Theresa May of having a “Zionist slave masters agenda” She also commented under a post whose author claimed that Islamic extremists were the creation of the CIA and Mossad, the Israeli intelligence agency, writing: “I have enjoyed reading this thread so much.” That is it. One like, and one comment on Facebook.

You are completely missing the point. The level of this MPs involvement in anti Semitic behaviour is not the main issue. It is the perception of the public in response to a large number of complaints by leading Labour figures. Even the deputy leader publically complains that this serious issue is not being properly addressed. This is one reason the official opposition is not streets ahead in the polls. This fault line does not look like repairing.

Not missing the point at all - you invited us to debate the new Labour MP for Peterborough, and the accusations against her, which we have done - don't try to just crawl out of it because you're losing.

You are forgetting that this information came to light four days before the Peterborough election. If as you say the public are having their views moulded, it didn't stop them from electing her in preference to Farage Ltd. If you are happy to see your vote split between the Tories and Farage, then you can expect this type of result in many leave voting areas.

The public are not interested in anybody's legal definition. They do however take notice of senior politicians accusing their OWN party of misconduct. This invariably leads to mistrust and a loss of support. There is no sign of any improvement to this serious problem for the Labour Party.

When I help elect a new firm Brexiteer much of the support for the Brexit party will return to the Tories. This will be enough to see off the feeble challenge from the Marx twins.

And what exactly are the facts on which you base this opinion? As you say, your opinions are always based on facts. (In which case, ALL your predictions are based on clairvoyance, or you are making startements which are fundamentally untrue - more or less in keeping with most of those 'leaders; supporting Brexit. So perhaps we shouldn't be surprised).

All of the contenders for leadership of the Tory party are in joyful mood tonight. Failing Grayling has given his support to BoJo. What could possibly go wrong? :emoticon-0142-happy

According to Jeremy Hunt the country is facing a constitutional crisis. He does seem to realise that if Johnson was elected, the likely result would be a general election and the end of the Tory party. He was quite certain that a general election would return Corbyn, which is logical, but his main fear was not for the country if that happened, but the end of his party.

Electing Corbyn as PM is so obviously a disaster for the country it does not need mentioning.

Most Tory MPs and party members realise choosing Boris gives us the best chance of a deal and also the best odds in the unlikely event of a general election. Temporary closure of parliament may be the best option to secure a clean break within the timeframe.

I think you need to take this up with some of the ministers in the government. It is them who are admitting that BoJo would hasten a general election.

  20. Yep - and now that Gove is pretty much out of the race I think he is a shoe in. Oh well <doh>
