Ba is the only striker I've seen who looks worse than Shola having an off day.

Can't tell if this is serious or not. But if he does good 'unseen work' and terrible 'seen work' then why the hell isnt he in the coaching staff instead? I agree Shola seems to be a great lad, and supposedly he is very professional in training and the way he conducts himself - but he is ****ing terrible at football, really really bad. There'd be something wrong with us if we weren't complaining.

3 games? You're grasp of the future is fantastic! You should work on the stock market! Infact, with that great intellect, I'm surprised you haven't won the lottery!

What is doing my tits in is that Shola seems to be first choice striker and Ba doesn't get a chance. Fair enough Ba has looked poor, but he can improve once he adapts to the team and had a good goalscoring record in the PL last season. We know what we are going to get from Shola, the same thing we've got from them for 10 years, that's why he shouldn't play unless everyone else is knacked.

Whilst I agree that Shola simply isn't good enough - he never has been really - I would point out that he's just returning from injury so I think some people are being a little bit harsh.

Don't reel this out again, the lad is always recovering from injury. We need to stop making excuses for him, he's absolute garabge and not PL class.

I think the main problem with Shola is, when we play with him we ignore the fact there's a centre midfield...all the play goes through Jonas and Obertan so they can cross or is just long balls from Krul or the defence. It's just horrible to watch!

I used to love Shola and i'm sure he's a great person, but christ, i don't think he could be worse at football if he tried!

Much as I agree he shouldn't be a starter at this point of his career, some of the comments on here (especially the likes of 'he's a ****ing disgrace') are harsh at best. He's not the best striker in the world, but he's always been loyal a la Harper, has played through injury on several occasions and has scored in the Camp Nou, not to mention his goals against Sunderland. He could have moved to the Championship after we came back up (he was bossing that league til his injury) but chose to play for his place, and I'd much rather have Shola on the bench than a Carlton Cole or any of the mackems starters.

Sure he's probably a lovely bloke but what you've managed to do there is list lots of things he has done in the past...Maybe he was good in the past and his goals have helped along the way but right now, returning from injury or not, he's just not good enough for us, plain and simple.

Excuse me for not finding a better way to defend someone than listing their achievements, but with Ranger effectively a joke at this stage and Sammy inexperienced who's a better backup to Ba and Best than Shola? He's certainly good enough for that.

I'm not even sure he is to be honest. We can't let sentiment continue to get in the way of our progress when it comes to Shola. He is finished. I have sympathy with him. Roeder and Souness ****ed the kid by playing him despite a serious hip injury. They showed no regard for his health. But does that mean we now have to suffer this endless string of lazy pathetic perfromances? I'd have to say no. There comes a time when enough is enough and its not fair on the others. I get where your coming from as he used to be ok and has been dumped on. He is just utterly useless now. Maybe I'm harsh with laziness, maybe he isn't physically capable? His performances in the derby (bar the last one) and against John Terry suggest it is laziness though which is not acceptable.
