So it's the morning after the day and night before. Saw New Zealand v Afghanistan, great atmosphere in the crowd, there seemed to be more Afghanistan fans than New Zealand fans, and the game wasn't bad. Realistically, New Zealand were always going to beat Afghanistan but it wasn't a whitewash like some matches have been and Afghanistan did themselves proud. Their opening partnership was great but it's just a shame it didn't last longer. After a good start, the loss of the openers really knocked the stuffing out of them but Shahidi did alright after taking ages to get off the mark. Ultimately a fun day out.
Although I do give up as to how bad Soames (and Weatherley) has to be until he gets dropped for Donald. I took it as a given that Donald would be recalled.
I imagine it was a factor in us deciding to bowl. Easier to pick up in bowling points in a short space of time than batting points.
There can be few finer sights in cricket than Australian fast bowlers being clobbered to all parts of the ground.
Fantastic from India, 352-5, that’s the highest total ever by anyone against Australia in a World Cup. I particularly enjoyed Rahul’s contribution, he only faced 3 balls but scored 11 runs, including a six off his first ball.
