I had to laugh at porcine Ben Hayes’ typically pompous comment on CL - that David White was “only” owed £250k by the club. “Only”. Always easy to be generous with other people’s debts when you haven’t got a nook to your name yourself. Unless Hayes counts his contribution as donating an XXXL T shirt to the museum.
What is going on about this Jimmy Seed character who seems to know nothing about Charlton and is not being very helpful? David White (one of the ex-directors mentioned) has stated quite clearly that he has been contacted once to be asked if he was willing to negotiate his loan, his response was yes and yet this Seed fella seems to think that this is being unhelpful?.... It beggars belief that we have fans such as him...… It also seems strange that some fans think it is fine that the Belgian feels that he is entitled to all of his loans back plus 4% interest on the sale of the Club yet the ex-directors are not entitled to their £2.5m back if we ever return to the Prem League?
I think the ex-directors are being very helpful, to themselves and the fans. They possibly have a very good idea on what the Belgian is up to and they are protecting their assets, and the welfare of the true Charlton supporters.
You only have to read the comments on Dave’s timeline to understand the esteem he is held in by long term Charlton fans. Those of us who understand the history of the club appreciate that these guys put their hands in their own pockets to save the club after the moron Murray lost the plot. I for one feel reassured that they are not now rolling over, both to Duchatelet and to any potless chancers & speculators. They have demonstrated by their actions over a long period of time that they are true Charlton people, not newbies looking for an attention fix every day.
People are pushing their own personal agendas again here. It’s got nothing to do with the future well being of our football club. The Aussie consortium’s motivation for buying our club is nothing more than turning a quick buck. Muir and Murphy are about as genuinely interested in Charlton as I am in Moldovan scuba diving. People who have relentlessly championed their cause can also take their share of the blame when it all goes sour, as it always does with this type.
If everybody else has walked away, why are Rolf Harris and gang still hanging around? It does not make sense.
Imo these directors in the right circumstances probably would take a little hit for the good of the club. On this occasion people are trying to take the p#ss out of them. They are being put in a position To make it look like it's thier fault. Stay strong directors and if needs be tell the Belgian and whoever else to f@ck off.
