This was obvious when there were rumblings that he couldn't complete this buy in a timely fashion, And questions were asked whether he could actually afford the deal. It's no surprise we have to sell to buy, Just the model that we had previously,.. Fortunately we have a man that believes in youth and will hopefully get us back to that. But I agree with DTLW, Only thing I am disappointed about is that Katharina has lied, and used this as a quick get out.

I don't think Kat necessarily lied....things may have just changed. There is the real world and the fairy tale world which fans believe in (despite not living in it themselves). This is business and big money not a board game.
True but to quote Gao's own words about investing in the club........He did say that the club would need investment to bring it back to where it should be.......Or have I got that wrong?
I don't think that there is any evidence yet that Gao means any harm to to club, just that we might not be as ambitious as the fans would like us to be. Prior to Markus taking over most fans were satisfied with our identity as a mid sized, mid range PL club but now lots of fans want us to be the next Citeh or Chelsea.
The danger is that it's very easy to slip from being a low-spending, lower-tier PL club into being a Championship club, and it is becoming very clear that Gao lacks the resources to steady the ship should that happen. If we get relegated at some point in his reign, it could get very ugly, and quickly.

Possibly, but we're hinging our hopes on an ambitious manager who is not likely to stick around long-term at a club whose stated aims are to be a light-spending, mid-tier space-filler. Hasenhuttl might provide us with a reprieve, but this will remain a concern for as long as Gao owns the club.
Agreed. At the moment, it seems one of the few positives at our club is the manager. A manager who (if his results and style continue) is unlikely to be with us beyond the summer of 2021.
But you might be worrying about something that may never happen. Looks like we are stuck with Gao for the time being anyway. Also i'm not quite as doom laden about the prospect of going down as you are, we would still be pulling in decent crowds, have parachute payments and the ability to produce our own talent.
Haven't we been a self sufficient club for the last 5 years or so? I'd love some big investment, but if the way we operate doesn't change for the worse then it's "business" as usual.
We've sold big to fund Staplewood and the Academy we just need to exploit it more now and not waste money on relatively expensive flops .
