That could be a good shout as although i think Adam is good there may be certain games especially at CL level where a bit more mobility is needed, i've heard a lot of people mention Banega so he must be decent i'll have to keep an eye out for him more often. On French players what do you think of Valbuena seems like a decent player to me when ever i've watched him for OM. Imagine this based on the players we've mentioned for a future forward line up money permitting obviously ............................Lucas/Banega....................... ..........Montolivo/Gerrard............Adam/Gourcuff Affelay/downing..................................Suarez ..................... Muller/Carroll...........................
One can only dream!! lol. I like Valbuena, reminds me of Simao a lot, not sure of his age but I think he would be a good signing as well. I might prefer one of the Ayew brothers though due to being a bit younger but Valbuena could probably come in right away. What about Honda? He was on and off our radar for awhile and he is definetly a good player. Menez from Roma( now PSG) could have been a good buy I felt too.
Marvin Martin? Matuidi? Menez? Remy? Gameiro? M'Baye Niang? Moussa Sow? (Could be part of the J.Cole deal?) André Ayew? Some aren't French, but all look pretty good to me. I'd welcome any one of them tbh.
HAHAHA i know mate the day i see a liverpool squad that looks like that will be like winning the Euro millions but the original question of the article was who would you buy if money was no object lol I like Honda he's a very good play maker Dzagoev ain't bad either who plays for CSKA. I think with Honda and Adam we might be a bit lightweight but they could always mix and match the two. I think Valbuena is 26ish i might be wrong but he's not too old as far as i can remember.
Might have missed one on Axel Witsel ( awesome name too). He has looked good for Belgium and Benfica recently. Falcao would have been awesome, Hulk is still there abouts but not really a fully right-sided player.
They'd all be good signings mate lets just hope we get our wishes and a few of the players we've mentioned actually get bought by us.
by the way Doc, did we mention Jovetic? We actually had a very high interest in him during the summer Alonso left but the cowboys didn't fancy it. He could be a bargain and top top player. Reminds me of a larger, faster Aimar.
I never heard that one to be honest mate he's very highly rated by quite a lot of people, there were a few on here touting him as one they'd like for us last summer, i remember he was hyped a lot when he scored against us in the CL a few years back which was inevitable for his age and talent. How much do you reckon he'd go for?
He is still worth a lot but not nearly as much since he had a pretty bad injury that kept him out for the better part of a year. In the Epic Swindle book, it stated Rafa had everything lined up for him, Alonso goes we get Jovetic and Malouda( malouda might have been a year earlier) and basically they said no that money goes to debts. He has the power and pace to do it here, would like to see him signed as he can play a variety of positions, AM, SS, outside and would be a good successor to Bellamy in terms of that extra option up front ( Assuming Kuyt and Carroll as the lone striker and a SS, AM, or wide strikers)
I'd like another hard-working pacey winger like Valencia or Downing for the right hand side and a nimble goal poacher like Hernandez or Sturridge. I don't really want to see Kuyt continuing to play either of those roles as a first choice.
Navas for me ticks those boxes for a hug the line, pacy winger ( with skill!) but has terrible home-sickness. Think we missed out chance to get Sturridge, unless we fork over a large sum now.
I've not had a chance to read epic swindle but i read a few extracts from it but not that particular one, although that wouldn't surprise me if it was true as he played brilliant against us in the CL so i wouldn't be surprised if Rafa had Jovetic lined up. Looks like H+G stopped us from getting another really good player I'm not too bothered about Malouda but it just shows how restricted Rafa was at times when buying players.
People can say what they want about Rafa but players i think we all know he had lined up and some maybe not so much but a strong interest were Alves ( another one that was ready to go, fee agreed and all), Simao, Malouda, Jovetic, Barry ( granted we lost Alonso due to this). So we could have been lining up like this.... FT/Kuyt Malouda Gerrard/Jovetic Simao/Garcia Mascherno Alonso/barry Riise/Aurelio Agger/Hyypia Carra/Skrtel Alves/Johnson Reina * Some of these players I put in should not have left or been sold I felt at the time of all of this, probably missing a few as well but just to show what we could have had.
Yeah the one that really gets on my nerves to think about was Dani Alves i remember that they had agreed a fee something like 12 mil if i remember correctly and then we wouldn't cough up the cash, and look at how good a player he has proved to be now. The same for Simao he might have been over the hill if we still had him nowbut we could have got a few very good years out of him, hopefully we can correct one of our mistakes and actually get Jovetic some time soon. As for the Barry/ Alonso saga i think most of us agree that was Rafa's worst mistake of his tenure i still have no idea why he wanted to do this it was a baffling decision as Barry decent enough player as he is isn't really fit to lace Xabi's boots.
Shame we have to say what could of been, but hopefully that time is gone and new one is amongst us. Forgot about Tevez too, but SAF would never sell him to us ( Heinze was another one I forgot!).
Weren't we really close to signing C.Ronaldo a year or so before he went to United but didnt think he was worth the £7mil quoted at the time? Also I heard that we pretty much had Vidic deal all sewn up as well but pulled out of that one. Not sure how true either of those were but they seem to have both turned out half decent as much as it pains me to say!
