Perhaps Lovren wants out? Or Matip? There was some talk of this earlier in the season.![]()
Can’t see Matip going after being a solid partner for vvd for second half of season

wasn't this supposed to be on some saints.fans thing?
I still do not understand how people would love De light over Gomez. People are forgetting how until he got injured, there was even a case for Gomez playing at a level equivalent to VVD. He just had a freak accident not the normal muscle injuries that curtailed his season. If I am not wrong by December we had only conceded like 8 goals before he went down.
Our problems are not at CB but at cover for the FB areas as well as competition for the front 3. I would go as far as we need two FBs one AM and one versatile striker only from a signings perspective.
It would be an amazing amount of money to slightly add more depth to an already crowded area.
Delight looks a big unit, but the pace Gomez has suits us better. Reminds me of last year when Maguire was touted as a great option, unless you realised he's a cart horse.
When vvd and gomes play we can hold a very high line closing the gap between defence, midfield and attack. Any ball over the top and the attacker is going to have to be lightning quick to outpace both of them.
When he got injured the defence had to drop off a few yards which altered our setup to its detriment.
With a fit Gomez we do not need any CB's. Could do with a decent striker, could it be Brewster if he steps up?
Said this months ago. De Ligt is clearly a very good player but he's not £50m-£70m better than Gomez!
People say Gomez is injury prone, he isn't. He's had big injuries, not lots of niggles. Easy to assist him too, just don't play him at RB where the physical demands on the body are much greater.
Closed... I surprised it lasted three minutes tbf![]()
If it's a choice of delight or Gomez, regardless of money, I'd still have Gomez. He was an absolute beast at CB last season. Considering he was targeted by rivals as he's young and not Virgil, he didn't put a foot wrong.
In many games last season he was just as good, if not better than vvd. He had much more to do, plus covering for Trent. To think that our centre back and right back where not out of their early 20s in quite frankly unbelievable
