Yes ... which is why this year's was refreshing with relative minnows such as Ajax and Spurs doing as well as they did ...
Both Valencia and Napoli were 'good enough' for the Champions league this season, but we knocked them both out of the EL.

The difference between Arsenal and Spurs this season was 1 point. We both lost European finals.
Obviously ****ing not.

Well that's the point I'm making. Valencia and Napoli were in the Champions League, but eventually got knocked out of Europe by us, a Europa league team. So this idea of a huge gulf between CL/EL teams simply isn't true.

Logic failure. There is an overlap in that the best few teams in the EL are better than the worst few in the CL. But every team in the EL has had the opportunity to qualify for the CL and failed. The average standard in the CL is much higher.

And yet you are in the CL by virtue of 1 point from us in the EL, so your logic doesn't stack up.

Unless you agree that Spurs are one of the worst teams in the CL ?

The logical point is that there are 4 English teans better than you in the CL. Name any team in the EL and I can name at least one team in the CL which is better. For you it is Man C, for Man U it is Liverpool and for Wolves it is Chelsea. Spurs don't even come into it. So it follows that the standard in the CL is much higher.

    Arsenal > Napoli
    Arsenal > Valencia

    Right there your logic fails.

And that’s my point. As power spurs has pointed out, there’s an overlap between the worst teams in the CL and the best in the EL. 1 point difference this season just finished.

That's gotta be a sickener, mate. One point and you lads could've been a big boy again. One point. If Aubameyang scored his penalty in the NLD you'd have made it.

    One point <laugh>

Stop trying to find glory in defeat, I know you haven't got much choice, but its starting to look desperately pathetic at this stage.

That doesn’t contradict what I said. There are certainly teams in the EL who might be better than some teams in the CL. But ALL the teams in the EL have a different team in the CL that is better than them.

I understand what you're trying to say but that doesn't mean you're right. The CL is clearly a higher standard than the EL.

The top ranked CL team will beat the top ranked EL team. Same for second vs second, third vs third, fourth vs fourth, and so on.

Arsenal beating Valencia and Napoli says more about the PL than it does about the difference (or lack of in your argument) between the CL & EL.

Of the last ten EL winners, how many would have stood a chance in the CL?

In fact, how many of them started the season in the CL before getting relegated to the EL?

You have not. Name any team in the EL and I will name a CL team whichever finished above them or knocked them out.
