Expect no one cares. Who could have named them all? I reckon in an on the street survey, virtually none. So what bits of history do you remember, seeing, reading about, or someone telling you about, maybe it was TV.
Well if you didn't understand any of the title, it's a sad affair. Learn some history ffs. Exactly why the country is ****ed. No education.
No. Education, coming from you Try making sense once In a while mate then these drunken rambling may be easier to decipher. For the uneducated like myself. Omaha utah jono sword?? (Yep OK?) Who could have named them all? (Named all of what?) I reckon in an on the street survey, virtually none. What the **** you talking about?
Those were the code names for the landing beaches on D-Day. Pretty obvious what he is talking about tbf. I shall refrain from calling you a moron because that is pretty obvious as well.
Nah not into war history at all tbh impressionable uneducated young people dying for a flag ain't really my thing. im not a fan of any armed forces in general. Ive got one for you that's right up your street. The term handicapped comes from the war vet amputees (can't remember which war) who on returning home (and couldn't work) used to hold their cap in their hand and ask for money.
You don't have to have a degree in History to know those names though. Watching the news for the last couple of days would have educated you. In fact it's amazing to me that you have never heard of them. Impressionable uneducated young people? People from all walks of life stormed the beaches of Normandy that day. Very few of them would have been "uneducated" Most of them would have been drafted and had no choice. Some of the ones you would deem "educated" would have been officer class and most of those would have been fùcking idiots. If you happened to be of an age at that time you would have been ****ting yourself in a landing craft alongside the people you are denigrating here. You say you're not into war history then come out with an obscure war history fact? Oh well.
I didn’t know them either and enjoyed History. Hope this thread doesn’t just become a rant about young people.
I don't watch the news and stay away from TV as much as I can tbh My Obscure war fact comes from a book of phrases and their origins. I have heard of the codenames before yes, but the way Comm worded it, it simply wasn't clear what he meant, to me at least, until he put some context in his following post. Yes I think people who go off to fight wars for governments and flags are stupid, just look at the yank army and how many Scots serve in the british army. That's my Opinion on the matter. You don't need to like it. I'll say no more on it out of respect to the dead. Also I'd never get in a landing craft to **** myself. But if I did and never **** myself I'd be quite worried.
I think you have to respect choice the people who join up tend to put politics to one side and just decide to do what they do for their country. When you look the political arguments on here and in the media, putting that kind of nonsense to one side and just defending your country doesn't seem such a bad idea. It's a simple and clear thought process without the clutter. Unfortunately we get older and start to think we're right about everything.
I do respect the choice I just wouldn't choose it for myself. Let's not make this a thing where I don't have respect for them. I do.
I was talking more in general about the anti war people. None of us want war and no sane person wants to go to war because some tosser in a suit wants to make money. I would say that most soldiers put politics to one side especially at an early age and keep their thinking very simple.
