We've been told this was going to happen.

League One signings who might be able to step up to the Championship.
The only real quality is going to come from loaned players - if our selections are as good as last season.

If we sign 10 lower league players on free transfers, I would judge we cannot afford to have fewer than five of those turning out to be good enough for the Championship. A 50% hit-rate on free transfers is asking quite a lot.

It's not impossible to assemble a competitive Championship team out of cast-offs, journeymen, kids and loanees. But I think it's going to be tougher than it was last season. Unlike L1 the 2nd tier is packed with teams who can really play, and are strong as well.

I don't think buying league 1 top capable players is a bad idea, lots of players are capable of taking the step up.

Rich Cawley confirms today that Charlton want to sign Oztumer...but that other deals take priority first.

I assume that means selling players or getting others off the wage bill to free up funds.

Charlton Athletic attacker Tariqe Fosu is a target for Oxford United, Lincoln City and Rotherham United.

The 23-year-old is on his way out of SE7 and there is League One interest in the shape of three clubs.

The Addicks have offered Fosu a contract extension to ensure they get compensation for the former Reading man. His current terms end on July 1.

Fatty Evans let slip at a Gillingham Q and A session that Tom Eaves would be joining us.

I can see Gobbo trying to sign Ben Reeves as well.
