i just had to look back again.... moura scored 5 goals in CL total, 2 in groups and one was against barca when barca played what was in effect a b team.

he played 3 full 90mins, 2 of which spurs lost.

I'm with mito on this. I'm not suggesting that we'd rather lose it, just that I'm not particularly bothered if we do. I just can't take a one-off game as a serious competition, regardless of who's in it.
There's always value in the habit of winning any game, but the trophy itself shouldn't be counted alongside the genuine hard slog competitions, imo.

 

They wouldn't be doing that if they had our waiting list.

 

it is the Liverpool way to not put the season at risk by trying to beat city in a preseason game.

if city wanna put a marker down on day -1 go right ahead.

same for Chelsea.

there 38 games that matter in the prem and 6 min in cl.

tin pots shouldn't affect those.

 

You can argue though that the one off game is harder to win as you cannot slip up
The long slogs (generally as a rule) you can make a mistake but have the ability to rectify it
The one off you have to get it right so pressure is greater.
As I said I want us to win everything and am disappointed when we lose.

this can't be serious or genuine surely, but when you have evertons own players tweeting about the turn out of fans, probably is

 

bar the long slog is the premier comps and the one offs are the equivilant of a show piece with nothing on it

 

yet not long ago there was the argument for taking all cups seriously

 

any everton fan expecting 3rd deserves to be ridiculed.

if we finished 17th they'd still not finish 3rd.

 

bar they are not cups.

they are tin pots given out after a show piece game.

it'd be like the Harlem globetrotters giving themselves a trophy after every exhibition.

 

we all have our own opinions, but i would rather win the super cup than the league cup. (even the fa cup is being devalued)

not bothered by charity shield, but would be happy to win it.
