Sounds like these people should have been in a Primary School maths class, not, presumably, at a University.

People are trained to pass exams now Lidls, rather than taught the subjects.

Why did Liverpool even give him the job if most surporters seem to think he was doomed from the outset.Very strange employment system.

You'll have to ask the only 2 people more unpopular than Roy, G&H. The unholy trinity of club destroyers.

Or, as I said earlier, students are being taught how to pass these exams, rather than being taught the subjects, as they used to be.

To be fair, G&H threw us into deep water, Roy just held our head under and tried to drown us.

NESV threw in the lifesaving ring

You are both right. Students now are not educated, they are coached to pass exams. They have little or no depth of knowledge of the subjects they study.
As for exams being being easier, there is some evidence to suggest that this is the case. A relative of mine and her class was given some old "o" level papers to sharpen their exam technique ( to prepare them for the unexpected should, by some miracle, that occur.) To a man they crashed and burned. Also some universities have had to set up remedial maths and English classes, to get their students up to a standard where they can actually take their course. Presumably, all these students had pass marks at "A" level.

It was at a good university too. I've met more stupid people than I care to remember but there's always a few that stick with you.

That doesn't show that today's pupils are any worse or more stupid though, it just shows that their exams and courses are different and that they haven't been taught the basics.
Would students of the past have passed today's exams?
That would give a far better comparison between the two groups.

Inmates receives less money if they decide to get educated? <doh>

I took both the old GCE "O" & "A" Levels. TBH, I can't remember re the "O" Level, but nobody was allowed to take more than 3 "A" Levels at any one time. Three was enough for anybody to handle. That doesn't seem to be the case nowadays.

The US deliberately made its standardized test for high school students easier (the SAT, which had been instituted partly to track performance over time). This proves that our crummy educational system creates idiotic adults. I've come to the conclusion US education so awful that it's self-reinforcing. People raised in it don't have the sense to chuck it in the trash and try to copy someone who knows what they're doing, like Finland. Part of the problem, clearly, is grade inflation, caused by the general agreement that nobody's precious little darling could be stupid and lazy.
