http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/blog/2011/sep/11/manchester-united-bolton-anderson Fully aware of the risk of initiating a petulant flamewar, I'd just like to voice my support of this article. I think Anderson has been excellent so far this season, and a big part of United's breathtaking performances of late. Whether this is just temporary form or the kind of development we've seen and admired in Lucas, I'm glad to see younger players flourishing and proving their critics wrong, regardless of their team. Has anyone else noticed any improvement from other routinely slated players anywhere in the league?
Have to say I agree with you. Its difficult to praise Manure players but Anderson does look a better player than he has done in the past. Think its a problem of being Brazillian, cause their forwards and fullbacks hit the headlines early and big clubs want to sign them from the age of 17 that the midfielder and defenders are supposed to be superstars at that age too. Takes more time for these players to develop than the likes of Neymar.
He has been good so far. Lucas has been great as a holding DM and has learnt to keep the ball and make creative passes from deep. Anderson playes imo also as a holding midfielder in the middle of the park he doesn't venture forward too much and doesn't play very deep either. This seems to be the preferred Man Utd Midfielder and the reason they haven't replaced Scholes. He is having a great season and unfortunately I think he will continue to improve.
I'd imagine that for Man U fans it's quite nice to see Anderson improving considering he got a bit of a ribbing pre-season for looking a bit out of shape
I still don't rate him. He's a tiny bit better than Fletcher or Carrick. I think even poulson would look better than average in a team playing that well though. It's not hard to have people believe you're playing great when Young, Nani, Rooney, Hernandez, etc are in the form they're in playing around you. When Utd drop in form and Anderson is their stand out player for holding it together, I'll believe he's improved as a player. Just like Lucas did for us last season when **** hit the fan and he was the glue which held us from collapsing.
Credit where credits due. Anderson look 3 times the player he's been in recent seasons. Fair play to the lad for turning it round at a vital time (Scholes leaving etc).
Comparing him to Poulsen is hardly reasonable, but I agree that if there's something to take away from him it's that he has some brilliant players to pass the ball to. Young, Nani and Rooney are a brilliant and naturally well balanced attacking trio. As long as Anderson keeps it simple they can do most of the creative legwork.
I'd hardly be praising the rest of their team if that was the case... He does simple things in a team in very good form with some outstanding players surrounding him to give the ball to which puts very little pressure on him. Put 90% of premiership footballers in that position and little would change. My point remains, lets see how he performs when the others drop in form and he's the linchpin of his team.
It seems Anderson has shed at least 5 stone. He still needs to lose another 8 stone to be lighter than Frank Lampard, so that Fat Frank replaces him as fattest footballer in the premiership.
