I assume ( never assume, it makes an ass of u and me) you are referring to Max "cutting the mustard" a d Pass lack replacing him if we sell Max.

Indeed ge - I REALLY believe that Max will THRIVE in the PL and at LEAST one team will be proffering HUGE amounts of cash to tempt even SW's resolve in January.

On the plus side Passlack knows our squad and way of playing . But I simply don't know if he is good enough to be Arrons backup. We've barely seen the lad. As ever we'll trust Webber and Farkd to make the right decision. Though to be fair, it could be out of their hands. If I was Passlack I'd be desperate for 1st team football, and being our backup can only further stall his career.
Don't see him ending up with us TBH

    Bah!

Passlack came to us with a lot of praise, but he never quite lived up to it. Not sure we'd be looking to sign him, but if SW and DF think so, I'll go with them.

Speaking of the potential of young players, Simon Power and Adam Idah have a chance of playing for the ROI U21s against China:

    https://www.edp24.co.uk/sport/norwi...ake-second-chance-with-ireland-u21s-1-6083962

If they do well, they could well break into the first team for the pre-season.

I see that several of the Canaries' websites are advocating that we should sign Dwight (I well remember Dunc saying that we should of signed Dwight0 Gayle in the last few years!!), but IMO, I REALLY hope that the only time we see him at CR is playing for our opponents. I feel his wage demands would be excessive and I'm not convinced that he would buy into DF’s training methods and philosophy.

I also find it strange that Morris has been leaned out, but Idaho has not and pre=season is going to be interesting to say the least!!!!

I wouldn't touch Gayle with a 15 foot disinfected barge pole.

We were champions without him and WBA failed miserably with him in a team that was expected to do well!

Apologies if already mentioned further back - Passlack and Srbeny's striker mate Max Phillip out of favour at Dortmund now apparently. You'd imagine we'd have first refusal on Passlack but the silence from him and club would suggest we're no longer interested in him. No PL rules on having more than one Maximillian in a squad though.

Gayle is a good Championship striker but his top tier record is nothing to write home about. He averages just 5 goals a season over the 4 seasons he's played in the EPL (7 in his best season). Casting the net beyond the home countries, there will be plenty of (cheaper) alternatives likely to be as good or better and I'd back our recruitment guys to find one who also fits the profile.

No rules on having more than one exciting young player in the team who one day (later rather than sooner, please) will be worth maxi-millions. :emoticon-0164-cash::emoticon-0164-cash::emoticon-0165-muscl

With their track record to date, and Webber's insistence that we won't be splurging stupid amounts on any one single player, you could almost be forgiven for thinking there are / were several irons in the foreign fire already <ok>

Am I correct in stating that the International transfer window open in a few days. If we have "irons in the fire" we most certainly would be keeping quiet about them until we are able to announce that the deals have been completed. On the Passlack siguation, didn't Klopp praise him highly when Passlack joined us?

    From the PL website...
"The transfer of players from another national association may take place once the FIFA Transfer Matching System (TMS) opens on 11 June.

This means that any international transfers cannot be processed until the FIFA TMS transfer window opens.

As agreed by the clubs in November 2018, the summer transfer window will close at 17:00 BST on Thursday 8 August 2019."

It looks like Simon Power (21) will be looking to go out on loan again rather than joining the first team after injuries restricted his playing time last year:

"To be honest, I think I would like to go on loan because when I was in Holland I didn't prove myself enough, I didn't get as many minutes as I'd hoped. Of course it would be great if I was up with the first team and training with them but I feel like I need to go out on loan again, get minutes into the legs and go and show I can do it in a lower league, wherever that may be."

When we were last in the Premier League Gayle had a medical at C.R from Palace at the time the fee quoted was not astronomical , Palace then picked up a few injuries and decided to hang on to him.
We had first refusal in the closed season , Newcastle paid more than we agreed with Palace and probably much higher wages , we went with Naismith as our expensive saviour and got relegated .

It was a running joke because he was excellent for the Mags firing them to the Premier League as Champions .
That put his market value much higher than when we were interested and out of our reach now , he`s a good player but too expensive for us ,we can get much better value on the continent .

The fee for Dwight Gayle has been touted as being around £15m, no way we would spend that on him I hope!

I'd much rather see Maximillian Phillip come here, he looks a real prospect that we could nurture and build on!

Passlack would also be a decent move if the money was right

To throw another Dortmund name into the mix, Alexander Isak is expected to move on this summer. Anderlecht apparently prepared to pay 9m EUR for him. I suspect given our Dortmund links and the offer of Premier League football, if we were interested we could compete with that.

This analysis seems to suggest he's exactly the type of striker who would suit us: https://totalfootballanalysis.com/p...r-isak-willem-ii-tactical-analysis-statistics

Yes Dunc, Gayle was phenomenal for Newcastle and for the Baggies the first half of last season. As soon as Leicester recalled their loan player from the Baggies, Gayle's goals dried up; along with the Baggies being in the automatic promotion places!!
