In my time of following football week in week out rather than just looking for the spurs score (1977 onwards as a 10 year old) there have been just 11 title winners in 42 years. Liverpool, Forest, Villa, Everton, Arsenal, Leeds, Man Utd, Man City, Blackburn, Chelsea, Leicester. Forest, Villa, Blackburn, Leeds and Leicester have won it once each. Everton have won it twice. Man City have won it 4 times Arsenal and chelsea have won 5 times each Liverpool have won it 9 times United have won it 13 times. For the CL (and European cup) there have been just 5 English winners in its entire history. Liverpool, United, Villa, Forest and Chelsea...and only Leeds, Arsenal and Spurs have made the final. So only 8 English clubs have made the final in history. So as a spurs fan I enjoyed our cup run, I enjoyed taking my daughter's to CL nights and loved us being at the lane last night. Gutted we lost but that's life...doesn'tchange my pride in watching us try. As for entertaining finals...between 1978 and 1982 Liverpool (twice), Forest (twice) and Villa all won 1-0 in turgid finals...united in 99 was boring as **** apart from the last 3 minutes, Chelsea and United in 08 was awful as was Chelsea's win in 2012...the quality of the game is rightly ignored or forgotten as they won. I never thought I would see us in a CL final, I never thought I'd see 61000 fans turn up at white Hart lane to watch a match on tv. I would loved us to have won it but **** happens. But losing does not take away from the fantastic nights we had. If you have won titles and CLs you can look down at us enjoying it but then TBH that would be as snotty and crap as me mocking a Derby fan who enjoyed the buzz of getting to the playoff final. Think some of you lot have let Hiag get right under your skin
So much bullshit about the difference between the CL and EL is spoken. How many teams that are "good enough" to make it into the CL are not good enough to drop into the EL, out of those that are good enough to drop into the EL how many are good enough to go on and win it? There is plenty of **** in the CL yet many big names don't even make 3rd place in the group stages and those that do fail in the EL.
I wouldn't say Spurs bottled it (but then I'm not an Arsenal fan) ... I do think they blew it ... or rather Poch did .... Liverpool were distinctly poor on the night and if Poch had started with Moura and Son rather than playing Harry then it might have been very different ... although Sissoko's moment of madness would still have made it difficult ..
Funny Spurs are mentioned only twice in the Fosse like essay. And neither time anything to do with winning.

I gave this year's results for teams since those are the squads that played Next season Chelsea have qualified for the CL but will field a relegation candidate team
Spurs came 4th this year. So maybe next year is their year. In the not champions league, but the league for champions and and the others.
So less than half then. Remember a couple of years back when Liverpool thought they were good enough to win it, close but no banana
