Head was right. When was the last time the Lingfield trials provided both the Oaks and Derby winner (if ever)?
Goodness that was a close Derby. Telecaster was too bad to be true after travelling on the heels of the pace. Hope the horse is ok. I wonder if we can get a price for the Triumph?
I know connections feel they have a well handicapped horse. He was given a poor ride from a very bad draw last time out. Only reason for not putting him up today is that he ran a shocker on his only race at the track in this last year.
Oisin says he ran flat, which I can understand, but he didn't look comfortable coming down the hill. He'll come back.
You can only get a price for the Triumph if they can get the horse to settle. He was pulling the jockey’s arms out early when there was not too much pace being injected by Sovereign so he had lost his race long before Tattenham Corner. Bangkok was taking a pull too and only beat Telecaster home. The bare form of the race suggests that this was not a great renewal. Five of the first six home from Ballydoyle and a cigarette paper wide enough to cover the second to fifth. Obviously delighted that I plumped for the right one of the O’Brien septet although Bet365 will probably close my account with two wins from my last three bets.
Just to let you know if you are watching the game on YouTube, it’s over a minute behind the BT coverage. Fair first half imo. Spurs had loads of the ball but no end product. Prince H Kane is not fit. Done nothing. Spurs have to give it a proper go in second half, Liverpool will will love the open spaces.
Yes watching on you tube and is average picture at best. Looks like PlayStation quality. Totally agree about Kane. Staggered that Poch has opted for him over the semi-final hat trick hero. Kane takes games to get fit.
Well as an almost neutral that was pretty ordinary. Spurs opting to play with 10 men didn't help them.
If that was the best that the Premier league could offer, then maybe, just maybe, Norwich won't go straight back down next season
Agreed. Stuck in a pub where it is three-deep at the bar with fake Liverpool fans (cannot remember them being here for the semi-final second leg). With no staff spare to collect glasses they had to resort to plastic pints. Beer all over the floor at the final whistle as the morons forget they are holding a pint when they jump in the air. As a neutral I was hoping for an open game with a load of goals considering these were supposed to be the two best teams in the competition.
I’m made up with the result. Liverpool didn’t play well, but is that the sign of a good team? Yes, I’m a Liverpool fan but I’m also a football fan. Spurs were the better team tonight. I didn’t want Harry Kane MBE to get a kick tonight, but next week for England I want him to be the best striker ever. That’s why we love our game
Not the domination I predicted and my bet just fell short but still the result I expected. Spurs had more of the ball but thought Liverpool looked the more threatening. I think the early goal killed off the game. Well done Liverpool and their fans
One team tried to win the match, the other knew how to win the match... Small difference in the belief of the two sides. Spurs just didn't seem to know how to break Liverpool down, even if they all played below par... Both sides looked leggy and tired, and the early goal just about made sure that Liverpool could sit back and absorb the pressure... I've been luck enough to see Liverpool in many finals, seeing them both win and lose them, but in reality the only people concerned with the style of play are the neutral football fans. I really don't care how we won it, I'm just glad that we did...!!
Agree. Very disappointing. Not exactly an advert for Premier football. But both teams did amazingly well to get there and Liverpool deserved a trophy. How many teams have finished with 97 points and not won the Premier. The penalty seemed a bit harsh and may have ruined the match because after that Liverpool just had to stop Spurs from scoring. Both teams looked tired and didn't appear to be competing as if it was a cup final.
The semi-finals were good enough adverts for the Premier League Not sure how many countries had the match on free-to-air TV? It wasn't on here in Germany and I think only on BT Sports in the UK? GOing the same way as boxing, big events only on pay-per-view
