Woke up at 04.00-ish. Sat on the sofa with a half finished bottle of cider in my hand and the birds singing. Finish cider or not.....? Yeah, I finished it. In an unremarkable South London pub last night. Bloke walks in wearing a hat with a Spurs badge on. I'm wearing a Spurs polo shirt. We nod at each other and a bit later start up a conversation. He's a ST holder and booked flights and hotel after we beat City. He came up a very small number of points short of getting a ticket and after consideration decided not to go without one.He sold his accommodation and flight on to a mate (at cost of course). He was surprisingly ok with it. As I live in deepest Chelsea country, not one person spoke to me about tomorrow's game, even though my shirt made it obvious who I support. I sensed a couple of people sizing up whether they wanted to antagonise me about it. So far, nothing to report but I haven't made the train journey up to London Bridge yet..... I'm off to fix a lawn mower and mow the lawn.....anything to pass the time.
Ultimately, back-to-back CL finals and running City all the way in the league is a great achievement and, for us, getting to our first CL final and showing we can mix it with the best is great too. There's going to be plenty of trolls whoever loses but it's much better to lose the final of the toughest competition in the world than not get anywhere near.
Well, there's a 50% chance of Spurs winning, and I'm a glass half full type. Feeling pretty confident!
Can you believe we’re just hours away from watching Spurs in the final of the Champions League. This is something I never expected to see Feeling nervous already, god knows how I’ll be by kick off COYS!!!
LESS THAN 8 HOURS !!!!!!!!!! Walked the dog to my local Italian coffee shop and had a double espresso and passed time time chatting with the owner who as a Juventus fan cannot stand Liverpool for obvious reasons and as a parting shot we had a massive shot of grappa for good luck , walked away very light headed to the sound of the owner and his mates singing COME ON YOU SPURS, I'm buzzing with this like never before I'm 60 plus ffs P.S putting in a shout for Tottenham Arthur who I'm sure would have been in Madrid today
Daughters birthday party today in garden. Fixed trampoline, been to bakery, stocked up on beer (4 2 nite as well), built new bike, set up sound system, blown up balloons, time for first beer. Not even thought about the football yet. PS, been to the local tip as well, everyone I've seen in a Spurs shirt today has got a large < COMMMEEE OOOOOON YUOOOOOO SPUUURRRRRRS. Freaked out a woman in Tesco.
Getting up to WHL station at about 4.45, allowing for a trip to the shop and a bit of a mooch around outside and the in and up to The Shelf Bar for 6.00 pm....
Beat you to it! Just finished mowing and trimming mine! (Lawn, that is! Never trim the beard on match days! One of my very few superstitions.) So good to know I'm not the only one counting down the hours and finding things to do to fill the intervening ones! Four and a half to go.......
A comment in Yardbarker:- Tottenham an upper-middle class striver. Liverpool might play the most beautiful soccer that currently exists. Should we bother? You'r damned right we should! COYS!!!!
I'm off to NWHL now. Godspeed everyone. See you on the other side. To Dare Is To Do. COME ON YOU SPURS!!!!!
3hrs 22 minutes Been to the Barbers twice, Sainsbury's once...think I'm off to Tesco's to pass some more time...maybe pop into Asda on the way back
I would love to walk the length of the Tottenham High Road one more time and remeniss…….but, time catches up when you're a long way away. The old Pickfords building,Tottenham bus garage,Town Hall (Danny holding trophies!),the sites of the old Tottenham Royal with the old cinema next door, the old TL&R, the Beehive pub, Elsey's where I bought my first football boots (Tom Finney's) and finally heaven (and sometimes not!) the old Spurs ground with the old Spurs Supporters Club in Warmington House and the little shed out front selling Spurs programmes home and away. Suddenly I see a trolleybus pull up outside the ground.I watch as the fans alight and among them....Eddie Baily. Can you imagine, today,a player travelling to the ground by bus?
A sound beating coming your way tonight lads.. at least I hope so, I am not going to work on monday if you lot somehow pull this off, it will be intolerable, you'll never hear the end of it.
