As much as he was a Calamity Jane at times, he pulled off some heroics on OBZ day - enjoy your retirement Mr Green.
Just for old times sake We’ll miss you Rob. Capable of great and brave saves, capable of throwing the ball into his own net. Incapable of any kind of useful distribution.
Calamity Green and he got worse and worse with us .. ...............but I will always remember his heroics with a broken hand to keep us in the playoff game to give Bobby the chance for our beautiful OBZ moment and even in the few minutes following the goal he still made those vital saves. Enjoy the retirement but please don't do a John Terry with the Europa League trophy
A bit OTT Stan to say he'll be missed....... Sadly he was part of the clusterfuck that epitimised the Hughes reign, it could have been so much different if he'd pushed that Swansea shot around the post instead of all limped wrist and helping it's way into the net in that opening day 0-5 defeat............then Hughes wouldn't have needed to buy that Brazilian keeper and help TF spend £150k a week on two keepers......
He single flap-handedly ruined my summer with that England mistake. I met him once and he was really boring but apart from that the world of goalkeeping is pretty much the same without him.
BT Sport subscribers. How chuffed are you that both European club finals are being broadcast free? As you are not nasty people I doubt that you resent us non subscribers getting something you paid for for nowt, but it is a bit odd. Are they offering you a refund?
Is that right sb? You can see it on BT tomorrow? I don’t think the ars/Chelsea was free so I didn’t bother, I got rid of it about a year ago & haven’t renewed
At least I get the choice to watch it on RTE so I don't have to put up with the smugness of Lineker and Co or listen to the impartial McManaman giving wonderful insight into the game......... EDIT: Just looked at the listing and not on RTE it's on Virgin 1 which used to be called TV3, basically it's a terrestrial station a bit like Quest........
Huge numbers of Liverpool and Spurs fans getting pissed in Madrid without the hope of a ticket for the game. The authorities are not providing large screens to show the match apparently. Tonight, expect hoards of English football fans to break into local houses to sit on the sofa and watch the TV.
There are more important things to think about, rather than worrying that you can watch the game free when I pay a subscription. Well done!
The authorities are closing the fanzone areas just before kick off (couldn't make it up) Here's ITV's report: Tens of thousands of English football fans in Spain face the prospect of missing out on watching their team bid for European glory today, as police made their first arrests for disorder ahead of the Champions League final. Fans blamed a shortage of supporter tickets and the decision to ban giant television screens from showing the match, as the number of Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur supporters to have arrived in Madrid for the final vastly outnumbered the 16,000 tickets available to both sets of fans. It means several will make their way to the Metropolitano Stadium ahead of the 8pm (BST) kick-off still searching for a ticket, though many have been left disappointed after their offers fell well short of the value commanded by those flogging them on the black market. Those not able to catch the match from inside the stadium will be forced to find a pub showing the football, after authorities decided the two designated fan zones should close just before kick-off, while officials ruled nowhere in the city centre should be able to show the game on a big screen. Liverpool Mayor Joe Anderson, who had written to his counterpart in Madrid to request a giant screen broadcast the match, said “UEFA guidance” was behind the decision. He added in a tweet on Saturday evening: “Told 14,000 bars and restaurants and cafes open with screens.”
