mate.... you paid attention this year right?? Chelsea were 5th and while Utd were miles off and had to play catch up, its very clear spurs imploded and hamded chelsea 3rd. they'd no right to that at all... thry were barely worth the 4th place and that's cos arsenal also lost form and Utd imploded too. to compare that to us on 97 points is...(I'm sorry) facile. as for league cup.... check teams. we didn't take it that serious. neither did Utd, neither did arsenal, neither did spurs. chelsea and city have won it a lot... why? Cos they play first team.
Every team plays reserves and kids for first 3/4 rounds and then when it gets to semis they play the first team because there is a chance for a trophy. Let’s not kid ourselves that the LC is beneath us just because we didn’t win it
Correct, look at the list of recent winners there aren't many lower teams. This EL cup and FA cup are beneath us is Spuds talk not for a team that is used to winning things, it's more of an excuse for not winning things.
EXCLUSIVE: Liverpool Chairman Tom Werner on why Phillipe Coutinho 'regrets' Barcelona move and explains summer transfer policy https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/spo...lusive-liverpool-chairman-tom-werner-16357366
Best thing about that is the comment - we leave the transfer business to those that know it well ;(klopp and Edwards). Our role is just to support the manager. Thats what you want from owners. Trust in your manager and scouting team and give them the tools they need to succeed. Really can’t fault fsg
and for the record.... given their learning over a long time now and the job of building they've done I fully expect us to pay them back royally but have our own resources to continue as a club. my issue is not with fsg but with the state run ffp flouting clubs (soon to be 3) UEFA and fa have to answer there. for me.... the only thing I'm waiting for is Anfield road end. getting the main stand and what I hope is a world.class training facility out of this era of money is great but I would dearly love Anfield to be "finished off" so more local fans can get into the ground
“I would just point to the story of Philippe Coutinho,” Werner added. please log in to view this image
How Newcastle takeover could affect Liverpool, Arsenal, Man Utd and the Big Six Newcastle may well be on the cusp of something massive. They are the latest Premier League team to potentially receive an influx of wealth, which could change the landscape of the football club for years to come. Mike Ashley has agreed to stand down after 12 years in charge on Tyneside and sellNewcastleto Sheikh Khaled bin Zayed Al Nahyan for a whopping £350million. Sheikh Khaled, who previously attempted a £2billion takeover ofLiverpool,is a member of the member of the Abu Dhabi royal family. He is one of the most successful entrepreneurs in the Gulf states, and as a result has some serious financial clout. https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/transfer-news-live-adrien-rabiot-16175768
7 into 4 doesn't go. IMO 2 or 3 clubs are going to go bankrupt or fall right away here. This couldn't come a t a worse time for spurs with new stadium to pay for. we will be hard pressed to keep up what we've done. Chelsea future has to be up in air with ambramoivch interest but also their absolutely shambolic wasteful approach to managers. City newcastle utd.... unlimited funds in theory...
IMO much depends on what the arab new owner does. if he says here's 500mil you are not in europe you decide who to get rafa and lets him at it after givign him a 5 year 10mil a year personal contract... well I'd epxect rafa to spend the 500mil. the man likes a deal... not all are good. I reckon the top 6 would be in threat next season. 7th is certainly probably well below the arabs desire. ... realistically though to get in 7-8 top player sin one go with real, barca, utd, all chasing players.... well we will see. 7 into 4 just will not go. This is why the "giants" want a closed super league so these arab owners or should i say oil states can't just buy any club and push them out.
Yes but equally just perhaps FSg making sure the main stand pays itself no matter what for 120mil and holding the anfield road end so long is "wise" as is making sure the kirkby training facility pays for itself on houses sold on the melwood site. It is harsh truth but the truth is if we are 6th or 8th again... and we were <5 years ago we won't have massive debts like spurs will have on a massive bowl of a stadium. Its a harsh truth but the clubs future could well be mid table if these state run clubs are allowed to continue doing what they are doing and more joing the party. Newkie buying 10 50 mil + players could eaily happen although i see at least 4 or 5 rafa would keep even if in CL contention. I like that keeper for example.
