About ten year ago when city were struggling in Division 4 a certain Brian Laws always turned up with his Scunthorpe United team and always seemed to spoil the show by beating us or drawing I often thought at the time (I think Brian Little was manager then) given the resources Brian had for team Strengthening I wonder how he would of done at Hull City being able to splash some cash as they would say.

Years later the Physio takes over and leads them to two promotions and a relegation but more importantly on a shoe string budget, than said chappie is cherry picked by Southampton and the rest is history promotion and a wonderful start to the Championship season.

So did we miss the boat(even though i am happy with Nigel) Southampton play an attacking brand of football where as Nigel plays a defensive game your thoughts.

I like how City are resolute at the back, apart from Leeds, so far. I'm happy for City to grind out results if it means we win. There will be more open, free flowing matches to come.

Just picture it this way. Two seasons ago we'd have taken anything to be winning and shutting the opposition out, so i dunno why expectations have changed all of a sudden.

We've just got to got over our poor home form and there will be no talk who we should have got instead of Pearson.

I said at the time that if we were going to get a manager from another club then Adkins would be a good choice.

As it turns out, Adam Pearson made the wrong decision and we'll have to live with that.

I would have loved Adkins here, he was one of my preffered choices. I'm happy with Pearson and wouldn't swap our set up, but if we'd have got Adkins I doubt I would have swapped him for Pearson. Probably equally happy with either, but Pearson was definitely a nice change after Browny and co.

I think Nigel Pearson was a great choice at the time and i think he is a great choice now,i will always back him up. However i think i was one of few who put forward Adkins to take over us, i don't remember many doing it on the old 606 but he just had something about him i always liked. I don't know if they will go up this year but i can see it happening next year if it doesn't this one.

More success in this division than Pearson.

I stand by it, but as I've said before I'd take anyone other than Dowie over Pearson.

By now we all know your opinion of NP so you didn't have to add that last comment. You only did it to get attention.

I guess you get abusive when someone touches a nerve. Not to worry I take insults from you as a compliment.

I remember Leicester fans, on this board, saying that Nigel would fix our defence first. Then, having stopped us shipping goals (don't mention Leeds!) the strikers would be sorted.

IMO he's making progress - even if we'd all like it to be far quicker - within a limited budget.

Don't let those other boys worry you Percy, I'm sure mummy loves you.

it was interesting that the channel 4 drugs programme last night cited little old scunthorpe as one of the biggest test dodgers in all 4 divisions. Was that physio and sports scientist, Nigel Adkins playing the system to help Scunny punch above their weight? It would also be interesting to see how Southampton have faired in the missed test stakes since his move.

Quite a lot of people were suggesting Adkins when Brownie went, I don't think many would have objected if he'd have come in, but he didn't.

I also believe Saints were the 3rd/4th biggest spenders this window, after Leicester and West Ham(possibly also Brighton).

I'm not so sure, yeah we might have won more games, but we'd be subjected to "Ey listen, the boys were magnificent." After every match, regardless of how well they'd actually played

He did come out with some bollocks, I remember after we beat them at their place, he said we only won because of the wind.
