The reason Williams has been released is because he asked for £10000 per week. This has come from a poster on CL who knows a friend of his. Where was Fosu at the end of the Season, I heard he was off? I agree with the rest of the players offered a contract/ released.

I’d say Williams is worth £10,000 a week for the bit of quality he provides. He is going to be a loss. Fosu is a waste of space.

    This is from Cawley.
Fosu has been offered a contract so Charlton can get a development fee for him. He is 99 per cent certain to leave.

Bowyer knows. Williams wreaked havoc when he came on and probably won us the game, but against Donny's better defenders nothing he tried came off. He hasn't scored or had an assist, has he? Fosu is a surprise, I thought Bowyer had written him off, same as the fans did. I also thought Bowyer was off on his hols.

That’s not an unreasonable wage by Championship standards.

Villa were paying £50-60,000 a week.

This stinks of Duchâtelet- when’s the fvckin takeover ?

The two key offers are Aribo & Bauer.

But the parsimony over Williams isn’t encouraging.

See above post why Fosu has been offered a contract.
    More from Bowyer.

Bowyer said: “They are all different reasons as to why we haven’t offered those lads contracts. Obviously they’ve played a massive part in last season and that was probably the hardest part of any discussion I’ve had since being in charge.

“We were all on a high and then the next day we came into work and it’s then saying that we’re going to be letting them go. It was a horrible situation but that’s part of the game unfortunately. Some people stay, some people go, that happens at every football club every season. It’s never personal. It’s what we felt what we need going forward and they weren’t part of the plan but those lads were great last season for me, so all I can say is that I wish them all the best.”

He explained the door is still open for Williams: “We know what we have per player. Jonny came from a Premier League club who were paying most of his wage and we were paying a small percentage of that. For us to get close to what he was on before is just impossible.

“We explained the situation to Jonny. He’s going to have other clubs that are interested in him for sure. If the money isn’t what he’s looking for, or if there is any way we can get close to it, then we will be speaking to his agent, we will be keeping in contact. It’s not like we’ve shut the door on him, it’s half open, hoping that someone else doesn’t come and snap him up.”

Krystian Bielik, Josh Cullen, Chris Maxwell and Ben Purrington have all returned to their respective parent clubs following the expiration of their loan deals.

Bowyer said: “The loanees that came, they were all outstanding, every single one of them. Josh Cullen, Krystian Bielik, Ben Purrington, they’ve all gone back better players than when they arrived, I think that is clear to see.

“Josh Cullen became a full international, which is a great achievement for a young lad, so I think West Ham will be happy.

“Krystian Bielik is going back with a full season under his belt. I think the relationship we already had with those football clubs has already grown. There was already trust to loan them but I think there is a lot more trust, it can only be better for our relationship with those clubs.”

Elsewhere, youngsters Wassim Aouachria, Brendan Sarpong-Wiredu and Kennth Yao have all signed extensions with Charlton after successful seasons with Jason Euell’s U23s.

The U23s have been bolstered by the signing of Abraham Odoh following a successful loan spell at the club from Tooting & Mitcham. Luca Vega (Ipswich Town), Jay Mingi (West Ham) and Charles Clayden (Leyton Orient) have also joined Euell’s group.

    More from Bowyer.

From the official site. Sounds like RD isn’t going anytime soon.
    • “Charlton boss Lee Bowyer is hoping to replicate the recruitment success of last season with his summer spending this year.

Working with Head of Recruitment Steve Gallen on a limited budget, the pair astutely built a squad that finished League One in third place and secured promotion to the Championship with Sunday’s dramatic League One play-off final win over Sunderland.

The Addicks have offered new contracts to four first team players but are not extending the contracts of six first team players.

Bowyer said: “Our next step is to obviously replace the players that we are losing, that is the first and foremost thing. The loans will be done a bit later on like they were last season. We’ve got a list of the type of player that we want, our targets, and now it’s about going to work and trying to get them in on the budget that we have.

“It is a small budget. We’re going to have to duck and dive like we did last season and bring in the best players we can on the budget we have. We’ll work our hardest, like we did last year, on trying to achieve that, but it’s going to be difficult.

“The one thing that we do have in our favour this season is that we are in the Championship, so that alone is a better attraction. Ok, we can’t compete financially, but we’re in a league above now, so that alone should help us.” “

    @DickPlumb

Suggests to me it’s a Duchatelet budget for next season, and not an Aussie one.
