Boris Johnson allies claim impending trial over 'lying and misleading' to public is attempt to reverse Brexit
Allies of Boris Johnson have denounced the move to summons him to court to face allegations that he lied to the public during the 2016 EU referendum when he claimed the UK handed £350m a week to Brussels.
The frontrunner in the Conservative leadership contest may face trial for allegedly “lying and misleading the British public” about the consequences of Brexit.
But an aide said that the crowd-funded private prosecution, brought by campaigner Marcus Ball, was “nothing less than a politically-motivated attempt to reverse Brexit and crush the will of the people”.

Personally I do not want Boris Johnson to be the next Prime minister because he contributed to the problem we are having.

Hammond could bring down next govt to block no-deal Brexit
Chancellor Philip Hammond has suggested he could try to bring down the government to block a no-deal Brexit.
In an exclusive interview with Sky News, he left open the option of backing a no-confidence vote against the next prime minister to stop them pursuing something "not in Britain's interests".
Mr Hammond admitted it is not a move he would make "lightly or enthusiastically", but warned that "national interest trumps the party interest".

its.like this..... the people had their say on Ian Duncan Smith many years ago but it's not stopped him hanging round driving his agenda.

yet if someone dares say I think the people should decide on brexit it's deeply undemocratic.

politics is deeply deeply cynical business.

boris is only hanging round now with hope in the big seat. he's made his living elsewhere as a well to do so its only about power. he has no ideals nor.morals. he just wants no 10.

    thst reason alone disqualifies him.

Following the news that Boris Johnson is to be sued for relying on a gross figure rather than net, a number of prominent sports journalists who claimed Rafa Benitez spent £200m at Liverpool under Hicks and Gillett are believed to have gone into hiding today.

A no deal Brexit would do a lot of damage to our economy says the CBI, (together with the WTO and OECD).

Are the supporters of no deal like Esther McVey and Farage coming out to say it is yet again project fear? This time, they are a bit reluctant to get the public to dismiss these projections. And it looks that they are putting it simply as a choice between a clear "clean" break (no deal) with the EU against some economic pain. Instead of the 2016 where every single negative was dismissed as project fear.

Would we have had the same result in 2016 if everyone was truthful about the potential difficulties? I think not.

Yes. Its now a clear choice for them.

The euthanasia option... end your pain guys all will be well when its over. a blessed relief.. just ignore the fact you are dead obviously.

theres no need now for the brexiteers to do anything but say a new referendum is treason and undemocratic and just play a nice careful line that wouldn't a clean break be best for us all (cos you morons are bored now aren't you)

The do not have to make any case for brexit, no facts no figures... they just have to get it through OR be delighted to get the EU to force the hardest of hard deals on us.

There is a time coming when Macron in his idiocy stands up and says no more you are out then then the brexiteers will have their evil european scapegoat.

My view is in 2016 people have no clue what the reality of the change was. They wouldn't have if they didn't look and no matter how you tell them they were out shouting at europeans to go home and abusing people in the streets in thier celebrations. That says to me this was always a tight one no matter what the lies.

As of today... whenyou know the pain and you know the score... well... i honestly think they havent had enough pain yet and they would jump off the cliff

I understand that for some it was and still is a matter of principle. Britain had to get out to be truly independent and if it involved some pain in achieving this so be it.

But it's a whole people decision and if most feel that the preservation of jobs and economic prosperity were more important than issues of sovereignty or migration then the country should respect that.

The PM candidates going for a no deal Brexit knowing full well that it could lose Britain jobs is completely irresponsible.

Here´s my take on those Conmen aspiring to be the next PM. Of those who have submitted their names thus far the following will be out of the running before it comes down to the final two. Boris Johnson as he is too fat and ugly, so on photogenic grounds he is out of the running. Raab as he is too bald. Look what happened when they elected IDS, so they are unlikely to elect him either. I think Andrea Leadsom will be jettisoned as I am sure many within her own party loathe her and would not want her as party leader. The fourth one out will be Esther McVey. To much of a pipsqueak and very lightweight. I don´t think Gove will do very well as he is a notorious backstabber so he is out. Possible contenders - Stewart but probably won´t get sufficient votes from the ERG mob. Hunt … always smirking so not to be trusted he is out of the running. I am beginning to run out of candidates. Malthouse …. Who? Forget him. Sadjid …. he has managed to avoid all the controversies, although I am not sure if he was the Home Secretary at the time of the Windrush scandal, but if he wasn´t or if the blame can be shifted on to someone else he comes out as "squeaky clean." And the Tories like to be the first party to do something …. with having had two female PMs, so why not the first British Asian. It would also be very prudent as he could well get Asian voters that normally vote for Labour to switch to the Conservatives in many of the marginals like Peterboro, the West Midlands, Reading, Southampton Test and a plethora of others.

Oh how I wish the UK voters were as intelligent as those in Liverpool, Manchester, Brighton and Tottenham and large swathes of London including Tottenham, and Scotland.

Or holding the fat, twisted **** to account. You may have forgotten his comments on Liverpool and Hillsborough, Dribs, (that he never really apologised for, despite Michael Howard trying to force him to), but I haven't. Man is a vile charlatan.

Interestingly, he might not get the chance if Raab wins and prorogues Parliament (which he doesn't deny he'll do). Then it will come down to Liz saying no unless Parliament itself votes to prorogue. Not sure she will though.

The best summation of the situation was by Hammond:

" Can each candidate tell us clearly how they would avoid turning into Theresa May Mark 2?"

It is depressing that with Brexit looming we now have to pray and beg that the Americans do not touch the NHS.

Please please Sir can you leave us our beloved health system?. You can take everything else.

At the mercy of Trump of all people. <doh>
