Just from what I’ve seen from him. He looked like he had a bit of speed about him. His pace might have dropped off as he’s aged, I dunno. Just from what I remember from seeing him.
I'd prefer Rhodes because he offers a different option as an impact sub and he filled in well for Pukki when he was injured, as well as the good fit Dave points out. If Gayle comes on loan, there could be a possibility of both, or is that being greedy?
That's true up to a point, but he's not as much of a team player as Pukki (2 assists in 39 appearances for West Brom). That said, he'd be a suitable replacement for Pukki if he suffered a long term injury, but then so would Rhodes. One other advantage is that Gayle can also play at WL.
Gayle? No thank you. Got himself totally needlessly sent off in the 88th minute of the play off 1st leg against Villa, 2-1 down with the home reverse tie to come. Did he think? Clearly not. Did he care? You tell me. We are where we are because we know that being good at football isn't enough.
Buendia did something equally stupid/rash/reckless but luckily Leeds didn't capitalise on our draws when he was needlessly suspended, did he care , did he think? Could of cost us promotion. You tell me
I can see the similarity, but it's much more serious in a play-off game. What was the nature of Gayle's sending off? Buendia's was a split second reaction, which hopefully he learned by.
Yes, it could have cost us promotion, but the difference is that Emi is 22 and Gayle 29 with seven more years of top level football behind him. If Buendia is still prone to being "stupid/rash/reckless" at critical junctures at the age of 29, I wouldn't want us to sign him either.
If Leeds had won those 3 games we would probably be saying that he cost us promotion. The same with all those missed penalties. Nobody talks about the cock ups when you get promoted. Not winning a single match without Buendia meant he was arguably more important for us than Gayle for Baggies. Gayle got sent off for a second bookable offense Buendia lost his cool .
How many red cards has Gayle had in his career ? He's not got a reputation for being a hot head as far as i know.
I know what you mean, but even if Leeds had won all three games they still would have finished behind us. The test for Emi is whether he learns from his mistake. A sending off for Gayle on a second yellow wouldn't put me off signing him, but I'd prefer for it to be on loan.
I've just seen that Newcastle want £20m for Gayle and that before wages are considered. https://readnorwich.com/2019/05/29/newcastle-want-20m-for-norwich-target-dwight-gayle/
Just seen a Sun article that claims Patrick Roberts of Man C is having a medical for a proposed season long loan.
Either side or behind a striker I think. Pretty average season in Spain last season, but preceeded by a couple of decent loan spells for Celtic I believe?
